Powerball winner Edwin Castro hires PR guru who repped Alex Rodriguez
Powerball winner Edwin Castro has decided to spend some of his $2 billion on a new team to manage his affairs – including a veteran trial lawyer who has repped Alex Rodriguez and NBA players, according to a report.
Castro has hired public relations guru Terry Fahn, of Sitrick & Co., a former litigation attorney who has worked with high-profile athletes including the former baseball player, The US Sun reported.
Fahn “specializes in strategic communications, litigation support, crisis and reputation management,” according to his online bio.
He previously worked as a senior VP at Dick Clark Productions, where he handled public relations for the American Music Awards, Dick Clark’s New Years’ Rockin’ Eve, the Golden Globe Awards and the Academy of Country Music Awards.
Prior to joining Sitrick in 2020, he was a litigation attorney.
Castro, 31, also hired former federal prosecutor and veteran trial lawyer Michael Freedman of The Freedman Firm, sources told the outlet, which said the nouveau billionaire is understood to be focused on “building a sophisticated team of experts” after his story attracted a lot of attention.
On Saturday, he was spotted driving around in a vintage Porsche with a mystery blonde in LA.
Castro, who drew the numbers for the largest US jackpot of all time on Nov. 8, 2022, is now living in a $25 million mansion near pop star Ariana Grande in the Hollywood Hills.
He chose to take a lump sum of $997.6 million instead of annual payments, according to the California Lottery. After taxes, he walked away with a still-whopping $628.5 million.
In May 2023, Jose Rivera, 43, claimed that he was the actual winner – and recently told the outlet that he is still on a mission to “prove I’m the true winner” and insisted that “Castro lied.”
The rival has been charged with filing a false police report after claiming that he had been the one to purchase the winning ticket — which he insists was “stolen” by his landlord and eventually ended up in Castro’s hands.
He has pleaded not guilty.
CCTV video shows that Castro bought the ticket at Joe’s Service Center, his lawyer David De Paoli has said.
