Premier League round-up: Major win for Leeds United, Aston Villa defeat managerless Leicester City

Four clubs in the incredibly congested relegation dogfight in the Premier League were in action on Tuesday night and two of them met at Elland Road, as Leeds United hosted Nottingham Forest.

Javi Gracia’s team were arguably the biggest winners of the night, as goals from Jack Harrison and Luis Sinisterra overturned Orel Mangala’s opener.

The result sees Leeds move out of the relegation zone and into 13th, two points clear of the bottom three.

Meanwhile, Forest dropped down a place into 17th and are only above the dreaded dotted line on goal difference.

Bournemouth end the night in 18th after losing 2-0 to European hopefuls of Brighton & Hove Albion, who are now only four points adrift of the top four thanks to a goal each from Evan Ferguson and Julio Enciso.

Ferguson’s superb flicked finish put Brighton in front before Enciso scored his first Premier League goal in stoppage time to ensure the three points went back to Sussex and leaves Roberto De Zerbi’s side in sixth.

It was also a memorable night for Aston Villa, who boosted their own European aspirations with a 2-1 win away at relegation-threatened Leicester City.

Bertrand Traore curled in an 87th-minute winner to give Unai Emery’s side all three points and propel the Villans up to seventh in the table.

Ollie Watkins put Villa in front on his 100th Premier League appearance, before Harvey Barnes restored parity to the scoreline before half-time.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall received a second yellow card midway through the second half to reduce the Foxes to ten men before Traore’s winner.

Leicester thought they had a chance to earn a point at the death after being awarded a penalty when Patson Daka was brought down by Watkins in the box, but the decision was overturned after referee Graham Scott viewed the replay.
