Primoz Roglic explodes into red with Stage 4 victory at La Vuelta, Sam Bennett’s hopes hit by puncture
Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) ripped away on the final ramp to win Stage 4 and soar into the red jersey at La Vuelta.
Arriving at his beloved Vuelta with a point to prove after his latest Tour de France disappointment, the three-time champion decimated the remnants of the peloton to win ahead of Mads Pedersen (Trek-Segafredo).

Roglic, who also picked up a double helping of bonuses for a total of 13 seconds, seizes the overall lead from team-mate Edoardo Affini – becoming the fourth Jumbo rider to wear red in as many stages.

Fancied Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl duo Julian Alaphilippe and Remco Evenepoel both looked lively in the finale, but there was little doubt about the standout rider when the race arrived at the finish in Laguardia.
Meanwhile, Sam Bennett’s (Bora–Hansgrohe) hunt for a hat-trick of victories was derailed by a puncture.
