Prince Andrew is too ‘stubborn’ to move out of Royal Lodge: expert

Prince Andrew isn’t letting go of his beloved home at Royal Lodge that easily.

Royal expert Jennie Bond revealed that the disgraced prince, 63, is “very proud and very stubborn” to move to Frogmore Cottage and leave the lodge behind.

The BBC correspondent told OK! recently how “it seems entirely logical that he should move to a smaller property.”

He should move now that his daughters Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice both have their own homes, and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson has reportedly bought an abode in London.

“He seems determined to stay put [in the lodge],” Bond added.

“Now, it seems, he has been told by his big brother that he can stay, but he has to foot the bills,” she said.

The Duke of York had a talk with his brother, King Charles, over the summer at their residence in Balmoral Castle over the status of the Royal Lodge.

Charles wanted Andrew to move into Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s smaller former home, despite the former Navy man living at the lodge since 2004.

Andrew had been given a “stay of execution” by the monarch, 74, that said that if he pays for the repairs for the 30-room mansion, then he would be allowed to remain.

He allegedly already paid more than 200,000 pounds for roof repairs earlier this year.

The decision was made after Andrew was stripped of his royal and military honors by his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, following his alleged involvement with pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. He was also barred from using the His Royal Highness moniker and lost his patronages in 2022.

Ferguson, meanwhile, was also reportedly asked to help with the house’s finances. The ex-couple have stayed friends since their split, even staying at the chalet together. (The exes divorced in 1996.)

Bond gushed over the former Weight Watchers spokeswoman for sticking by Andrew.

The expert noted: “They really do seem to be the best friends and the happiest divorced couple imaginable. So she is going to pull out all the stops to earn enough to pay for the upkeep of the house and keep her man in the style to which he has become so very accustomed.”

Bond then explained how it would be more “dignified” if Andrew just “understood” that the lodge could be used for other members of the family.

“Perhaps he should have been reimbursed for some of the maintenance he has paid for and he could have graciously moved to the newly refurbished and very lovely Frogmore Cottage,” Bond stated.

“But he is proud and stubborn and it seems he has dug his heels in. Now we have to wait and see if he and Fergie can pay the bills.”
