Prince Harry to attend King Charles’ coronation — without Meghan Markle: Palace
Prince Harry will attend King Charles’ coronation ceremony in London next month, Buckingham Palace has confirmed — but Meghan Markle won’t be there.
The Palace announced the news on Wednesday, ending months of speculation as to whether the monarch’s younger son would skip the ceremony amid his estrangement from the royal family.
“Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that the Duke of Sussex will attend the coronation service at Westminster Abbey on May 6,” a spokesperson confirmed.
“The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet,” they added.
Charles’ coronation festivities will take place over the course of three days, but Harry is only expected to attend his father’s official crowning ceremony on May 6, according to People.
A pal of the prince told the publication that he “wanted to be at the service to support his father at this important moment in his life.”
It will be the first time Harry will come face-to-face with Charles and brother William since the release of his bombshell memoir “Spare” back in January.
The wayward royal — who now resides in Montecito with Meghan and their two children — recently returned to the UK for a court case, but reportedly did not see his father or brother.
In his scathing tome, Harry took potshots at William’s thinning hair and accused his older brother of physically attacking him during an argument.
He further hit out at step-mother, Queen Consort Camilla, accusing her of cozying up to journalists and leaking negative stories about him to the press.
The book sparked months of speculation as to how Harry could attend Charles’ coronation after publicly trashing his family in print.
The decision for Harry to attend was reportedly made after Harry sent over a laundry list of questions to Buckingham Palace, including where he would sit and what security would be provided. It’s currently unclear what agreements were made between the two parties.
Meanwhile, Harry’s son Archie is set to celebrate his fourth birthday on May 6, with Markle choosing to stay in Montecito to mark that occasion, according to the People report.
It’s not known whether Markle will hold her own party for Archie while the coronation unfolds in London.
