Prince William’s pals propose new birthday tradition: report

It really was a night to remember, apparently.

This week, Prince William made headlines after he was spotted awkwardly grooving at the London nightclub KOKO with pals, presumably for his 41st birthday.

But according to a source, the evening was so much fun that they’re looking to make it an annual tradition for the possible future monarch.

“William’s friends had the idea to take him out to a nightclub for his birthday,” an insider told Us Weekly.

They continued, “William was skeptical at first but then decided to step out of his comfort zone and do something he hasn’t done in years. He wound up having an amazing time!”

The source also added that the prince felt a bit awkward at first, but “eventually loosened up and and cut a rug with his guy friends” who are looking to make the night a “new tradition.”

The Post reached out to reps at Kensington Palace for comment.

Prince William stepped out at the trendy spot two days after he turned 41, holding a glass filled with a mystery beverage and rigidly surveying the crowd, according to a video obtained by the Daily Mail.

He was joined by pals, including his longtime friend, Guy Pelly, who was seen happily dancing by William’s side wearing a pair of pink Elton John-style costume glasses.

His other friend, who is presumed to be Princess Charlotte’s godfather, James Meade, also bopped his head along to the music.

Prince William’s wife, Kate Middleton, 41, was seemingly absent from the boys’ night out.

Although the evening may seem now like a bit of a rarity for the newly 41-year-old, both William and his wife used to be frequently out on the town when they were young.

The two met at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland in 2001, and began dating in 2003.

In 2008, they were pictured leaving the Mahiki night club in London, per the Sun, and used to take some reportedly wildly enjoyable holidays to Ibiza together.

However, it wasn’t all rowdy fun on his birthday — the insider also told Us Weekly that Prince William had a dinner with Middleton and their three kids, Princess George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, to celebrate.

“Kate and William also had a special dinner with the kids on his birthday,” the source claimed.

The insider also added that after all of these celebrations, the prince is looking forward to getting back to work.

“William has been showered with love and is looking forward to getting back to work on his anti-homeless initiative,” they said, referencing the program he launched this week.

His birthday came just days after he admitted during an interview with the Times that he knows “it’s hard” for people to see the point of a royal family.

“We’re all very busy, and I think it’s hard sometimes to see what the family bring and what we do,” Prince William said.

He added, “But the amount of causes, the interests, the dinners, the meetings, the visits, whatever it is, that we do day in, day out, throughout the year, we’ve always been involved in that. It’s part of what we do.”
