Prince William’s strict eating habits are thanks to dad King Charles
Prince William, a foodie? I don’t think so.
The Prince of Wales, 41, reportedly has some peculiar eating habits when undertaking royal engagements — similar to his father, King Charles.
A source told Hello! magazine that like the monarch, 74, William refuses to eat lunch when out shaking hands and smiling for photographers.
While William may sample treats while on the go, he does not like to have a full meal when he’s making public appearances.
As for the root of this strange habit, Charles’ former press secretary, Julian Payne, previously gave some insight into why the king doesn’t munch on his midday plate.
Payne dished to the Mirror earlier this year: “The king doesn’t eat lunch.”
“So, an early lesson I learned when out on the road with him was to have a big breakfast or bring a few snack bars with you to keep you going,” Payne explained.
“The working day is pretty relentless. Beginning with the radio news headlines and a breakfast of seasonal fruit salad and seeds with tea,” he added.
Charles is also known to be a big lover of boiled eggs, having at least one a day.
Last November, William revealed what his daily diet looks like during a visit to Cornwall, England.
The Prince of Wales spoke with nutritionist Monique Hyland about his food intake and she reiterated his comments to Cornwall Live.
The father of three would have a hearty breakfast that is full of protein and carbs.
William stated that he eats two eggs, toast with butter, apple juice and a cup of tea with milk and sugar to start his day off.
“He was okay to start with as he had a healthy breakfast, but then he admitted someone had got him a ‘rubbish sandwich’ for lunch, and he had a chocolate brownie and a glass of red wine,” Hyland divulged at the time.
But according to a worksheet he filled out for Hyland, William usually eats a “slightly manly looking sandwich” with a glass of water. He’s also “trying to cut down on the sugar.”
He said he “doesn’t drink coffee,” so he drinks “two or three cups of tea” a day, and he enjoys snacks like bananas and chocolate biscuits or brownies.
She also joked that William needs the caffeinated tea because his “kids keep me up at night.”
