Priscilla Presley recalls final days with Lisa Marie, denies Riley Keough feud
The warning signs were apparently there.
Priscilla Presley had an inkling that her daughter, Lisa Marie, was in trouble before her death at age 54 in January — just two days after their joint appearance at the Golden Globes.
“I did know there was something not right,” Priscilla, 78, said about the moments prior to the musician’s passing in a new profile for the Hollywood Reporter.
She opened up about Lisa Marie’s final days, as well as her alleged public feud over Lisa Marie’s estate involving daughter Riley Keough, 34.
The Presley family — including Lisa Marie and Priscilla — had been partying the night away Jan. 10 at the Globes, where Baz Luhrmann’s “Elvis” movie had scored three nominations.
Following the ceremony, the mother-daughter pair went to the Chateau Marmont to celebrate the event.
“We had just gotten there, you go down all these stairs,” Priscilla recalled of hitting the Los Angeles landmark. “I tripped a little bit because I had these high heels on, and [Lisa Marie] started laughing so hard. I started laughing.”
The Naked Gun” franchise star added: “We hadn’t even had a drink yet. She goes, ‘Oh my God, Mom, you can’t even have a drink.’ … It was fun, a fun memory.
“Then we sat down and ordered drinks, and she says, ‘Mom, my stomach hurts really bad.’ We immediately got up and left,” Priscilla recalled.
Lisa Marie was stricken with cardiac arrest at her home on Jan. 12 and taken to a hospital, where she died, with the cause of death determined to be from a small bowel obstruction.
The “To Whom It May Concern” singer’s ex-husband, Danny Keough, called Priscilla to inform her of Lisa Marie’s demise.
“I still can’t believe it. I don’t wish this on any mother,” she revealed.
Priscilla has kept her late ex-husband Elvis Presley’s legacy alive since his death in 1977, though their family has been plagued with turmoil.
On Jan. 28, Priscilla — the former Elvis Presley Enterprises chairwoman — filed a suit that questioned the authenticity of her late daughter’s will. The situation reportedly became tense between Priscilla and Riley, 34, with the two allegedly not talking to each other for a time.
The pair reached an agreement over the estate this past May, and “Zola” star Riley was named the sole trustee of Lisa Marie’s property.
“Riley is now the executor, which should be right, obviously, being her daughter,” Priscilla explained to the Hollywood Reporter.
She also quashed rumors that she and her granddaughter were fighting.
“Riley and I are on good terms. We were never not on good terms. That was all publicity,” Priscilla claimed.
“This is private and this is not something to fool around with and say that we’re not agreeing,” she continued. “We understand what needs to be done. I’m there for her. She knows that. She wants me there for her to help her.”
