Queen Camilla recycles dress from Harry, Meghan wedding
Pales in comparison?
Queen Camilla had sharp-eyed fashion fanatics doing double takes Wednesday when her highness stunned in the same number she donned to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding.
Turning heads on the second day of the horse races at Royal Ascot, the queen, 75, rocked a pale pink Anna Valentine coat dress, accessorizing the number with a five-strand pearl choker boasting a pink bejeweled brooch — très Barbiecore.
Royal watchers online were quick to note that the newly crowned monarch wore the same frock on May 19, 2018, when King Charles III’s since-estranged son, Harry, 38, tied the knot with Meghan, 41, at St. George’s Chapel on the grounds of Windsor Castle.
For the majestic fête, Camilla punctuated her look with a pink feathered headpiece.
She slightly altered the ensemble for the Ascot, topping it off with a beige hat by Philip Treacy for flair.
But Twitter kidders couldn’t resist poking fun at the royal’s recycled wardrobe.
“Camilla reminds fans of Meghan Markle, Prince Harry’s royal wedding,” tweeted a snarky viewer.
“Well it’s nice to wear an outfit to a happy occasion,” teased another, seemingly suggesting that Harry and Meghan’s wedding wasn’t a joyous occasion.
“Camilla does ‘shade’ exceptionally well,” another commenter wrote, in part.
The queen’s trending re-wear comes just one day after she was accused of taking a fashionable jab at Meghan, who recently lost out on a ritzy deal with French couturier Dior, by sporting an all-white outfit from the label Tuesday.
Alleged acrimony between the two nobles reportedly erupted after Harry and Meghan opted to abdicate their royal stations in the UK and relocate to California to quietly raise Archie, 4, and Lilibet, 2.
Rumors of contention between the prince’s royal family and his wife reached a fever pitch in January, when Harry released memoir “Spare,” in which he dubbed his father’s wife a “wicked stepmother.”
Years prior to the fallout, Camilla and Meghan were said to have had a friendly bond.
“In many ways, Camilla had paved the way for Meghan,” Vanity Fair Royal Editor Katie Nicholl said in a Channel 5 documentary, seemingly noting the parallels between the now-queen’s initially frosty welcome into the royal family due to her years-long affair with Charles.
“Camilla would have been there to tell her not to take any criticism personally,” added Nicholl, “but this is just what happens when you’re an outsider.”
And while it’s unclear whether Camilla’s re-do regalia at the Ascot was meant to be a dig at Markle, sources told Page Six Wednesday, “The gossip in the royal enclosure was how happy everyone was that Meghan and Harry weren’t here.”
