Quentin Tarantino reveals why he doesn’t like sex scenes in his movies
He doesn’t need sex to sell.
Famed filmmaker Quentin Tarantino revealed why he doesn’t include sex scenes in his films – and the reason is more straightforward than one may think.
“Sex is not part of my vision of cinema,” Tarantino, 60, said in an interview with the daily Catalan Spanish newspaper Diari ARA this week.
He continued, “And the truth is that, in real life, it’s a pain to shoot sex scenes, everyone is very tense. And if it was already a bit problematic to do it before, now it is even more so.”
However, the director did note that if there was ever an intimate scene that was “essential” to the story of the film, he would go for it, but it “hasn’t been necessary.”
His 1997 film, “Jackie Brown,” is the only movie that features a racy scene between Bridget Fonda and Robert De Niro.
The movie followed a flight attendant, who was played by Pam Grier, showing her journey as she navigates getting busted for smuggling money.
Some of Tarantino’s other hits include the 2003 and 2004 sensations “Kill Bill: Volume 1” and “Kill Bill: Volume 2,” as well as the 1994 classic “Pulp Fiction” and more recent 2019 smash, “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood.”
While speaking to Chris Wallace last year, Tarantino revealed that he doesn’t pay much attention to the critics.
“So when people say, ‘Well there’s too much violence in his movies. He uses the N-word too often.’ You say what?” Wallace asked Tarantino during an appearance on HBO Max’s “Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace.”
In response, Tarantino said, “You should see [something else], Then see something else.”
He also added, “If you have a problem with my movies then they aren’t the movies to go see. Apparently, I’m not making them for you.”
Tarantino is reportedly working on his tenth and final film, according to The Hollywood Reporter, called “The Movie Critic.”
While there aren’t many details available about the upcoming project, he told the Spanish newspaper that the critic focused on in the film will be a woman.
He said that it is not about Pauline Kael, a famous film critic for The New Yorker who died in 2001.
Currently, Tarantino spends a lot of his time in Tel Aviv, Israel, The Post previously reported, but still owns property in Los Angeles and New York City.
He is married to Israeli singer Daniella Pick. The two wed in 2018, and have two children together: a 2-year-old son, Leo, and a baby girl who they welcomed last July.
