Rachel Morin’s boyfriend calls her murder suspect ‘scum’

Rachel Morin’s boyfriend broke his silence after Maryland cops released video of the suspect in the mom of five’s brutal murder — begging for help to catch the “scum of the Earth.”

Richard Tobin, 27, demanded “justice” for his girlfriend late Thursday while sharing images of the mystery suspect cops say was linked to the killing by DNA evidence.

“I hope they found this scum of the Earth,” Tobin wrote in a Facebook update after the Hartford County Sheriff’s Office released the video.

“Justice for Rachel Rip love you Rach,” he wrote along with heart and prayer emojis.

Tobin’s appeal came just hours after cops revealed at a press conference that a DNA sample found on Morin’s body matched samples recovered at the scene of an earlier home invasion and assault of a young girl in Los Angeles.

“Unfortunately, that suspect has not been identified, but he did leave behind his DNA,” said Col. William Davis of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.

“Based on the DNA evidence, we consider the individual in the video we obtained from the Los Angeles Police Department … to be the person that murdered Rachel Morin,” Davis added.

The Los Angeles Police Department later confirmed that the break-in occurred on March 26 in the city’s South Central area.

Video showed the shirtless suspect closing the front door and walking down the steps of the burglarized Los Angeles home. He was described as a Hispanic man in his 20s who weighs around 160 pounds and is about 5-foot-9 tall.

Cops said they “don’t have any clue” where the wanted man is now, but noted that he has ties to Los Angeles and may have been involved in crimes in other states.

Morin, 37, vanished on August 5 after going for a run along the popular Ma & Pa Heritage Trail near her home in Maryland’s Bel Air.

Police discovered Morin’s body the next day and ruled her death a homicide.

A man who claimed his stepdaughter — Morin’s friend — was the first person to find the body said it appeared as if the victim’s head had been “smashed in with a rock” before she was dragged into a drain tunnel, leaving a long blood trail behind. Police have not confirmed that account.

During Thursday’s press conference, Col. Davis said Morin’s murder was likely “a random act of violence” carried out by a man who did not know her.

Just four days before her brutal death, she and Tobin had trotted their new relationship on Facebook.

Tobin was the first person to report her missing after she failed to come home, and later felled compelled to publicly state his innocence.

“I love Rachel, I would never do anything to her, let the family and I grieve. Yes I have a past but I also have 15 months clean and have changed as a person. Please,” he wrote.

Tobin’s rap sheet includes more than a dozen arrests, including for criminal second-degree assault, violating restraining orders, malicious destruction of property, and drug possession.

Morin owned a cleaning service while raising her five children ranging in age from 8 to 18 years old, fathered by three different men. Those who knew her described Morin as a hard worker and a devoted mom who loved fitness.

“She was very warm and above all she loved her children,” one of Morin’s clients, 69-year-old Margaret Woltz told The Post.
