Rachel Morin’s still-at-large murderer might a be ‘serial killer,’ sheriff says

The man suspected of murdering Rachel Morin has shown “no regard for human life” and could be a “serial killer,” the Maryland sheriff overseeing the case said Monday.

Harford County Sheriff Jeff Gahler told Fox News Digital he fears the mystery man could strike again while also admitting the perp could be anywhere in the country by now.

“The violence associated with Rachel’s case shows he has absolutely no care, no regard for human life. I believe he will continue to do it until he’s captured,” Gahler reportedly said.

“He may be a serial killer.”

Authorities have been searching for the ruthless killer since Morin’s body was found Aug. 6 on the Ma & Pa Heritage Trail in Bel Air, Maryland.

The 37-year-old mother of five was found dead less than a day after her boyfriend reported her missing.

She was running alone on the popular trail around the time of her killing.

A DNA sample pulled from the murder site was linked to a home invasion and assault of a young girl in Los Angeles in March, police have said.

“Serial killers all start somewhere. What he did in Los Angeles was certainly, I believe, in that direction,” Gahler told Fox News Monday. “I believe it was his intention to inflict more serious physical harm.” 

Despite the DNA breakthrough, police don’t have the suspect’s identity – and have no idea where he might be.

“He could still be laying his head here in our county, or he could have fled anywhere in the country or even the world,” Gahler told the outlet.

Police have released video of the suspect, who is described as a Hispanic man about 5-feet-9 and 160 pounds.

Morin’s mother, Patty Morin said during a memorial service for her daughter Sunday the pain of losing a child “is so unbearable.”

“I know that the God that we believe in and the God that Rachel believed in was there holding her and comforting her,” Patty Morin said, according to WJZ News.

Gahler, the Harford sheriff, has previously raised concerns that Morin’s killer could keep killing.

“This person has an absolute disregard for the sanctity of human life and until he’s arrested there is a threat he’ll do something harmful to someone else,” he told Fox News last week.

“This individual poses a threat to every community from here to Los Angeles because we don’t know where he’s laying his head at night,” he added.
