Raquel Welch cause of death revealed
Raquel Welch died after suffering from cardiac arrest, it has been revealed.
The former sex symbol died aged 82 in February and was also battling Alzheimer’s at the time of her death, according to Welch’s death certificate obtained by TMZ.
The two-time Golden Globe nominee was pronounced dead at 2:25 a.m. on Feb. 15, and has since been cremated, the outlet added.
The “Fantastic Voyage” actress had never previously disclosed her Alzheimer’s diagnosis to the public.
The Post has reached out to Welch’s estate for comment.
Welch found fame after starring in the hit 1966 film “One Million Years B.C.” — which later earned her a sex symbol status.
But filming the movie was far less fun, she said decades later, revealing that she actually “almost died” after developing tonsillitis after having to wear a skimpy bikini in severe weather conditions.
“I had already so much penicillin when I was wearing the fur bikini that I almost died,” she told Fox News in 2017. “I had to rush, turn my car around and head right back to the doctor’s office, just run upstairs, jump in the elevator, and all that.”
“And I barely got there. They had to shoot me with an antidote. Otherwise, I would have died. It was really rough shoot, man. Really rough. And then I came to London and everybody knew who I was,” she added.
Throughout her glittering career, Welch was nominated for a number of prestigious gongs, including the Golden Globes — which earned her a massive win in 1974.
She won for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical for her role in 1974’s “The Three Musketeers” as Constance de Bonacieux.
And her off-screen success seemingly mirrored, as she was named one of the “100 Sexiest Stars in Film History” by Empire magazine in 1995.
What’s more, Playboy ranked her 3rd in their “100 Sexiest Stars of the 20th Century” list.
The “Legally Blonde” actress, who spent her final years in solitude, got married four times in her life.
She married her high school sweetheart James Welch in 1959 and went on to welcome two before their divorce in 1964.
She later wed Patrick Curtis in 1967 before their divorce in 1972, and went on to tie the knot with André Weinfeld in 1980 before parting ways a decade later.
Her final marriage was to Richard Palmer, which lasted from 1999 until 2004.
Welch is survived by her son, Damon, 63, and her daughter, Tahnee, 61.
