Rashida Tlaib slammed for defending call for Jewish genocide

Rep. Rashida Tliab came in for ferocious criticism online after publicly defending those chanting for genocide against the Jewish people.

Tliab, far-left squad member and the first Palestinian ever elected to Congress, insisted that the chant, “From the River to the sea Palestine will be free” was in fact “an aspirational call for freedom, human rights, and peaceful coexistence”

The line — a favorite of Hamas and Hezbollah terrorists — is widely understood as a hateful and antisemitic call for the elimination of the state of Israel in its current form between the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea, according to the Anti-Defamation League.

The American-Israeli Public Affairs Committee has said the phrase reflects a literal call for genocide against Jewish people.

Tlaib’s defense came after she posted a video featuring the phrase — which also condemned President Biden for supporting Israeli genocide against the Palestinians.

The backlash against Tlaib on X was fierce.

“Hamas sympathizers have infiltrated the halls of Congress,” said Noa Tishby, Israel’s former Special Envoy for Combating Antisemitism.

” ‘From the river to the sea’ is a chant that has been championed by fundamentalist Islamist terrorists for years, and it calls for ethnically cleansing the Jews from their ancestral land.”

Actor Dean Cain called Tliab “dead wrong” and “a disgrace.”

“It is a call to genocide. Genocide of the Jewish people, and an end to Israel. You are endorsing terrorism,” he said.

Criticism also came from Tlaib’s House colleagues.

“‘From the river to the sea’ is a rallying call for the erasing of the State of Israel. If that’s aspirational to you, that’s a problem. Stand With Israel,” said Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.).

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green (R-Ga) called on Tlaib to resign.
