Real Madrid and Arsenal may swoop for Chelsea pair N’Golo Kante and Reece James – Paper Round

Arsenal keen on Kante swoop

There could be yet another transfer from Stamford Bridge to the Emirates, as The Mirror believes that N’Golo Kante is a free target transfer for Mikel Arteta.

The 32-year-old Frenchman is back in Chelsea’s line-up after time out with injury for much of the season.

The paper writes: “Kante has struggled with injuries in recent years and he has been limited to just five appearances for the Blues so far this season. Arsenal have been linked with a move for the France international, with a member of the player’s entourage telling French outlet Le Parisien that the Gunners have ‘made an enquiry’ about signing him.

“However, they also stated that Kante would prefer to remain at Stamford Bridge. ‘N’Golo would like to continue his career in London, where he has his habits,’ they were quoted as saying.

“’He liked working with Antonio Conte, but he has been sacked by Tottenham. Arsenal also made an enquiry… I think he will extend his deal at Chelsea before going to the Middle-East in two or three years.’”

Chelsea look at four ‘keepers

The Sun meanwhile believes Chelsea are interested in signing replacement goalkeepers for Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga, who have both failed to make the No. 1 shirt indisputably theirs over the last couple of seasons.

The paper names the four potential targets across Europe who are attracting interest.

“It comes with the club expected to make a change to their goalkeeper roster this summer,” the report explains.

“Chelsea have contacted the representatives of three goalkeepers ahead of the summer transfer window.

“Brentford’s David Raya, Inter Milan’s Andre Onana and Borussia Dortmund keeper Gregor Kobel are apparently the trio the Blues are looking at.

“Reports in Georgia suggest Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili is also of interest.”

Roma keen on Leicester’s Justin

Jose Mourinho was impressed by Leicester City full-back James Justin last season, and the Mail believes that he may have done enough to earn a move to Roma in the summer.

Mourinho may not be at Roma for much longer, but the paper states that the Portuguese nonetheless picked him out in discussions.

“AS Roma are reportedly keeping tabs on Leicester City’s James Justin after the full-back impressed Jose Mourinho last season,” the paper states.

“The Giallorossi are said to have several issues with their defenders and are therefore seeking reinforcements, with Justin targeted.

“The Serie A side are already planning for the summer transfer window, having met with CAA Stellar, the agency that represents several players such as James, Sofyan Amrabat and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

“It was during this meeting where it is believed that Justin’s name arose after the 25-year-old impressed Mourinho in the Europa Conference League semi-final last season.”

Real Madrid line up Reece James

There is yet more Chelsea news, with Reece James apparently the player in the frame to step in at right-back at Real Madrid.

Spanish newspaper Marca takes up the story, saying: “Reece James was one of the players to watch in Wednesday’s game at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu. MARCA reported that the right-back is on the radar of Real Madrid.

“In MARCATV’s Real Madrid-Chelsea preview program, we broke down the keys to any potential deal involving the England international.

“The Englishman is one of those players who are being watched, as is Alphonso Davies, but in this case for the right-back slot.

“Chelsea’s situation is not the best and in the next transfer window they will have to sell some of their players.

“MARCA can reveal that one of those players could be Reece James and his departure could be for around 50 million euros.”
