Real Madrid plot transfer talks for Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe in January window – Paper Round
Real Madrid plan Mbappe move
Real Madrid are hoping to commit Kylian Mbappe to a free transfer next week.
Spanish newspaper Marca reports that the Spaniards hope to tie down the Paris Saint-Germain forward to a move.
“On that occasion they agreed to communicate again in the first days of January and they will do so. It is the same ‘modus operandi’ that they carried out three years ago with David Alaba, who also ended his contract in June with Bayern Munich and whose contract was signed in the first week of January. Why wait any longer?
“If the answer that Jose Angel Sanchez receives from Fayza Lamari, the footballer’s mother, or directly from Florentino Perez from the player himself is positive, they will consider closing the deal as soon as possible, including the official signature.
“There are no more obstacles to doing just that as he is in the last six months of his contract with PSG. The sporting laws allow him to negotiate and even sign for another club.
“The contractual documents have been drawn up, ready and awaiting the personal signatures since mid-May 2022, when the two parties reached an agreement on terms that the striker later refused to sign.”
Juve line up Patino swap
Arsenal youngster Charlie Patino is a highly rated prospect and the 20-year-old is wanted by Juventus.
The Sun claims that Moise Kean will be offered in exchange for the midfielder.
“The 20-year-old England U21 midfielder is currently on loan at Championship side Swansea City.
“Arsenal value Patino, who has 18 months left on his contract, at around £17.4 million – a fee that Juventus are not able to afford in the January transfer window.
“Instead they are said to [be] preparing a proposal of a part-exchange deal that would see Italian international Kean moving in the opposite direction to the Emirates.”
Liverpool chase Brazil midfielder Andre
Fluminense midfielder Andre could be on the cards for a January transfer to Liverpool.
The Brazilian midfielder is seen as a potential replacement for Wataru Endo, who will be at the Asian Cup in January.
“Fluminense went on to win their first ever Copa Libertadores title and reach the Club World Cup final, where they were beaten 4-0 by Manchester City. With Fluminense’s campaign now over, Andre is interested in making a seemingly inevitable switch to Europe.
“Signing Andre won’t be easy for Liverpool, with Fulham also thought to be keen. Yet it’ll be hard for him to say no to (Jurgen) Klopp again. Liverpool also need a holding midfielder, with Wataru Endo heading off to play for Japan in the Asian Cup next month.”
Arsenal set to wait for Toney
The Telegraph lays out the options for Arsenal to sign Ivan Toney.
Arsenal need to raise transfer funds, which means that player sales are required if they are to spend big next month.
“The alternative is to sign a new centre-forward and use Gabriel Jesus as a wide player. This, evidently, is what many Arsenal supporters want to see. The issue here is that there are not many top-class centre-forwards on the market, and that Arsenal’s finances in January are tight. It was for financial reasons, after all, that they signed David Raya from Brentford on an initial loan.
“Ivan Toney’s name is frequently mentioned by supporters and pundits but, as detailed by Telegraph Sport last month, any move for him in January should be considered highly unlikely. Brentford do not want to sell next month and it would take an enormous fee to even tempt them. Having been unable to pay £30 million for Raya a few months ago, how could Arsenal return to Brentford with an offer close to £100 million for Toney?
“A big-money move for a new centre-forward is more likely in the summer, unless there are significant departures in January (Eddie Nketiah, Aaron Ramsdalde and Jakub Kiwior could attract interest, as could Thomas Partey).”
