Real Madrid ready for Kylian Mbappe to force Paris Saint-Germain exit this summer – Paper Round

Real Madrid may reconsider Mbappe approach

Real Madrid were left unimpressed when Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe decided to sign fresh terms to stay in France, but Spanish newspaper Marca reports that the club may be willing to entertain a fresh approach.

However the onus would be on Mbappe to force through a move and to get PSG to accept his time at the club was over.

Mbappe: Bayern result won’t dictate my PSG future

The paper writes: “Several things have happened since the day the Frenchman approached Real Madrid. Mbappe does not seem willing to exercise the clause that will see him extend his PSG contract until 2025. This means that he will inform PSG this summer whether he is willing to renew his deal.

“His decision should be communicated to the club before June 30. Then, he will urge the club to put him up for sale in order to avoid losing him [for] free in 2024. It is the same situation as two years ago, when PSG turned down Real Madrid’s three offers to sign Mbappe.

“In the meantime, PSG have failed to compete for the Champions League and Mbappe understands that he has yet to play a major role in the competition. In any case, Mbappe will need to convince PSG to sell him at a specific price, because Real Madrid are not willing to negotiate with president Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

“Meanwhile, Benzema is having a poor season, one which has been plagued by as many as seven injuries. Should Real Madrid not win any important titles this season and [Karim] Benzema keep struggling with injuries, Real Madrid may decide to make a move for a world-class striker.”

United target De Gea replacements

Concerns over David de Gea’s poor kicking could see him leave the club if his contract is not renewed, and The Sun believes that manager Erik ten Hag is ready to bring in a replacement, with two options under consideration.

The first is Brentford goalkeeper David Raya, while Porto’s Diogo Costa is another player who could be brought in.

“The Red Devils are monitoring other stoppers despite holding talks over extending the contract of top-earner De Gea,” the report states.

“Boss Ten Hag’s main transfer aim remains a new world-class striker. Tottenham’s Harry Kane, Napoli hero Victor Osimhen and Benfica star Goncalo Ramos are rated prime targets in that department.

“But Ten Hag has admitted long-serving De Gea – United’s top earner – must work on his game.

“Brentford ace Raya, who has won two Spain caps, has leapt to the forefront as an alternative for next season. But Tottenham and Chelsea are also keen on the 27-year-old.

“And Porto’s Portugal keeper Costa, 23, has been on the Red Devils’ radar for several months.”

Scamacca could leave West Ham

Gianluca Scamacca arrived to a great fanfare at West Ham but it now appears that the player, who has struggled for form this season, is wanted elsewhere.

Inter Milan remain locked in talks with their current striker Edin Dzeko, who wants a two year deal.

If they cannot agree a one-year contract, then the Mail suggests Scamacca may be targeted by the Italian.

“The 24-year-old joined the Hammers from Sassuolo in a £31.8million deal last summer but has failed to live up to expectations,” the Mail claims.

“However, his performances in England have not put off potential suitors, with Inter keen to sign Scamacca to replace Edin Dzeko this summer.

“Talks between Inter and Dzeko are stalling, with the striker keen to get a two-year extension to his current contract which expires in June.

“However, the Serie A giants are only willing to offer a one-year extension and should an agreement not be made, they will turn their attention elsewhere.”

United takeover delay

Manchester United owners the Glazer family had hoped that they would have a deal done by April as they attempt to sell the club, but The Telegraph believes that the deadline has been moved back to the end of the season.

The newspaper explains: “The aim had been to complete a deal within the first quarter of the year or by the end of April. But the prospect of that appears to be receding and it is thought a sale before the transfer window opens in June is now considered a more realistic timeframe should the Glazers receive an acceptable offer, sources close to the process said.

“The Americans want at least £5 billion to sell but it is thought the offers from Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe currently fall short of that valuation.

“High ranking officials from the US hedge fund Elliott Management are understood to have met with counterparts from Raine, the merchant bank running the process, and the Glazers’ financial advisors Rothschild in Manchester on Thursday.”
