Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior hits out at La Liga’s failure to deal with “racists” attending matches

Vinicius Junior has already proven himself more than capable of speaking out against racial abuse, but after Real Madrid’s victory over Real Valladolid on Friday evening he was forced to do so again.

The Brazilian forward was the victim of racist chanting during the match, something spotted by fans watching on television and widely remarked upon on social media.

Multiple objects were also thrown at him, but he picked up at least one and kicked it back into the crowd.

Benzema fires Real Madrid to victory over Valladolid

On Saturday evening the Madrid star took to Instagram to make his point.

‘It is a good sign’ – Ancelotti happy to see Benzema and Vinicius jr among the goals

He said: “Racists keep being allowed in stadiums to watch the best club in the world up close and LaLiga continues to do nothing… I will continue to keep my head high while celebrating my victories and Real Madrid’s, in the end it’s always my fault. ”

Vinicius is clearly frustrated at the lack of progress on this issue which continues to raise its head this season.

This is far from the first time that Vinicius has been the victim of racial abuse, nor indeed the first time that he has spoken out.

Earlier in the season, Atletico Madrid fans racially abused the Madrid star.

La Liga officially condemned the Atletico fans, while police determined that the abuse did not constitute a crime on the part of the fans and closed their investigation.

A week before Spanish television pundit Pedro Bravo told him to stop playing “acting like a monkey” after dancing to celebrate a goal scored against Mallorca.

Brazil teammate Neymar sent him support, telling him at the time to “keep dancing”.

Vinicius clearly feels as though he is not receiving adequate support from the institutions with the power to do something, and his Instagram post is an expression of that frustration.

Despite the frustrations off the pitch, Vinicius continues to impress on it. He shone in Madrid’s tough victory over Valladolid, which took them to the top of the La Liga standings.
