Reanne Evans regains professional snooker tour card despite British Open final defeat

Reanne Evans will take her place on the main professional World Snooker Tour next season despite losing 4-3 to Bai Yulu of China in the women’s British Open final.

The 12-time world champion secured a new two-year card after nearest rival Ng On Yee of Hong Kong was edged out 3-2 to Bai at the quarter-final stage.

Evan regains the world No. 1 spot in the women’s game with her run to the title match in Landywood on Sunday.

Thailand’s Baipat Siripaporn had already claimed the other main tour spot after winning the World Women’s Championship in March.

Evans made breaks of 75 and 55 to lead Bai 3-2, but was forced to witness her opponent claim the final two frames for victory.

The consolation comes in consolidating her spot on the main circuit for the 2023/24 and 2024/25 campaign.
