Remembering Dianne Feinstein
It was just upstairs from Feinstein’s casket that her life — and San Francisco’s future — changed forever on Nov. 27, 1978, when Mayor George Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk were shot and killed.
Feinstein, the first woman to serve as president of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, announced the slayings to a shocked press corps and was widely credited with steering the shaken city through its darkest days.
