, after being accused of leading a mutiny over the manager’s future in north London.
“Questioning and criticising me as a player for my performance is part of football and I got it,” he said. “However, telling lies about me, I don’t accept! I’ve always had a lot of respect for Conte and for all my coaches.
“He helped me a lot in my coming to the Spurs and, whenever we had a problem (even if it was public) we solved it based on conversation and professionalism – and this he [Conte] can confirm.
“I wasn’t a mutiny leader against him, it was quite the opposite. I’m sorry I didn’t deliver as much as he expected of me and I didn’t do enough for him to stay. When he left, I sent him a message thanking him for everything and wishing him the best cause that’s what he deserves!”
Richarlison arrived at Tottenham in the summer of 2022 for £60 million from Everton under Conte’s stewardship, but is yet to find the back of the net in the Premier League.
Despite the heated conflict, Richarlison has insisted that all was well between the two after Conte and the club parted ways.
Tottenham were knocked out of the FA Cup to Championship side Sheffield United as well as the Champions League towards the end of Conte’s reign in a bid to win silverware for the first time in 15 years under the legendary manager.
He called Tottenham players “selfish”, adding the club have won nothing in 20 years under the current ownership.
