Robbie Coltrane’s daughter shares touching tribute to dad on Instagram
He may have been best known to the world as half-giant Hagrid in the “Harry Potter” movies, but for Robbie Coltrane’s daughter, the late actor was simply her dear dad.
Alice McMillan posted a loving memory of her father — who passed away at 72 on Friday — on Instagram Saturday. In the tender picture, she is hugging Coltrane from behind and kissing him on his head. And the touching pic — which certainly says it all about McMillan’s love for her father — is accompanied with a single heart emoji.
After a long health battle that had left him wheelchair-bound, Coltrane died at a hospital in his native Scotland. His agent of 40 years, Belinda Wright, said his family “would like to thank the medical staff at Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert for their care and diplomacy.”
In addition to McMillan, Coltrane is survived by his son Spencer; Spencer and Alice’s mother, Rhona Gemmell; and his sister Annie Rae.
Among the many tributes to the actor — who also appeared in the James Bond movies “Golden Eye” and “The World Is Not Enough” as Valentin Dmitrovich Zukovsky — was one from “Harry Potter” star Daniel Radcliffe.
“Robbie was one of the funniest people I’ve met and used to keep us laughing constantly as kids on the set,” he said in a statement to The Post.
“I’ve especially fond memories of him keeping our spirits up on ‘Prisoner of Azkaban,’ when we were all hiding from the torrential rain for hours in Hagrid’s hut and he was telling stories and cracking jokes to keep morale up.
“I feel incredibly lucky that I got to meet and work with him and very sad that he’s passed,” added Radcliffe. “He was an incredible actor and a lovely man.”
