Rosie O’Donnell annoyed over ‘Jeopardy!’ cancellation for sports

Rosie O’Donnell vented her feelings on TikTok after her nightly viewing of the iconic game show “Jeopardy!” was interrupted due to a Los Angeles Lakers basketball game.

“OK, I hate when ‘Jeopardy!’ is not on because of sports,” O’Donnell, 61, said in the video. “Now, I love sports, I love football, I love basketball. But it’s kinda early in the season. We’re still in football [season].”

“We don’t need to cancel ‘Jeopardy!’ do we,” the “A League of Their Own” actress whined. “I mean, come on people — it’s ‘Jeopardy!’”

The “Sleepless in Seattle” star then recited Johnny Gilbert’s iconic “This is Jeopardy!” opening line before adding: “Every night of my life I watch it.”

Several of O’Donnell’s followers sympathized with her love of the long-running quiz show.

“I’m so with you on this,” one fan wrote in the video’s comments. “I want Jeopardy!”

“Me too my husband and I never miss it only when they have sports,” a second person stated.

“There are hundreds of channels, there should be space for both ‘Jeopardy!’ and football,” reasoned a third person.

This is reportedly not the first time the syndicated game show has been canceled in certain areas.

In April 2023, “Jeopardy!” took a back seat in several markets due to the fact that the NFL draft was taking place in Kansas City, Missouri.

The legendary game show has also undergone some radical changes in the last few months after Sony, the parent company of “Jeopardy!,” reportedly fired host Mayim Bialik from the program, leaving former champion Ken Jennings to run the show full-time.

Bialik, 48, announced that she would not be returning to the lecture on Instagram in mid-December.

“As the holiday break begins in Hollywood, I have some Jeopardy! news,” the “Big Bang Theory” actress wrote. “Sony has informed me that I will no longer be hosting the syndicated version of Jeopardy!”

“I am incredibly honored to have been nominated for a primetime Emmy for hosting this year,” she continued. “And I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of the ‘Jeopardy!’ family.”

The “Call Me Kat” star concluded her post by thanking her fans.

“For all of you who have supported me through this incredible journey and to the fans, contestants, writers, staff and crew of America’s Favorite Quiz Show,” she concluded. “Thank you.”

Bialik, who drew the ire of fans many times during her game show career, started co-hosting with Jennings, 49, in September of 2021 after Alex Trebek, who hosted for a whopping 37 seasons, died in November 2020 after losing his battle to pancreatic cancer at the age of 80.

The “Blossom” star was often accused of being inconsistent with the rules of the game show.
