Rudy Farias’ mom Janie Santana reportedly flees Houston home
The mother of the Houston man who ‘vanished’ for eight years before being found last week made a midnight run from her home in the wake of horrifying allegations she had hid her son at home, kept him drugged and tortured him, according to local reports.
A neighbor called police after spotting Janie Santana leaving her Houston home shortly after midnight, just hours after she had been interviewed by police about the apparent disappearance of Rudy Farias.
Following that interaction, local activist Quanell X had revealed grotesque details he claimed to have heard from the now-25-year-old victim himself, KHOU 11 reported.
“She would ask him to play daddy, she told him that he had to be the husband,” Quanell X told reporters Wednesday through tears outside the local hospital where Farias had been receiving treatment.
Santana has not been charged in connection with her son’s disappearance and was allowed to leave the hospital with Rudy following the interview. Police have not confirmed any of the claims made by Quanell X.
Farias was reported missing eight years ago in March 2015 after Santana said he had left the home to walk their dogs.
Quanell X claimed the then-17-year-old returned to the home two days later, when his mother told him to keep his safe return under wraps, according to the report.
“She was giving him drugs. She was punishing him by locking him in a room over and over. She convinced him that law enforcement wanted to put him in jail, that law enforcement was looking for him because he ran away and that because he ran away, he was going to go to prison,” the activist said.
“She hid from her family. That was wrong and awful,”
Farias was found slumped over outside a local church last week and then treated at a local hospital. Neighbors had also questioned if Farias was ever really missing.
Kisha Ross and her family were shocked to hear reports that Rudy Farias was located because they never knew he had been reported missing in 2015, according to KTRK.
“He used to come in my garage, chill with my cousin, son, and daughter,” Ross told the news outlet
Ross’ cousin, Broderick Conley, said he and Farias would hang out often and had “laughing good times.”
The Houston Police Department is expected to hold a press conference Thursday morning.
