Russian man survives 40-foot plummet after car crash
A Russian man cheated death after surviving a harrowing 40-foot plunge when his Volkswagen Touareg smashed through a multi-story garage barrier.
Surveillance footage captured the moment Evgeny Shamko, 40, drove straight through a flimsy rail barrier on the fourth floor of a Moscow parking center, slamming through it with ease and sending the car plummeting to the ground.
The silver Volkswagen did a corkscrew spin and landed nose-first before toppling back on all four wheels in one violent motion.
Despite the devastating crash, Shamko came out of the vehicle uninjured, the Mirror reports.
Additional footage from the scene shows the Volkswagen Touareg surrounded by rubble as first responders studied the wrecked vehicle, whose hood was tented and raised after absorbing the impact of the fall.
Shamko remained at the scene to give his statement to police, with a witness noting that he did not require any medical attention from an ambulance that arrived at the parking lot.
Police were investigating Shamko’s blood-alcohol levels after a battle was found in the wrecked Volkswagen Touareg, according to reports.
This isn’t the first time a Russian man named Evgeny has been filmed falling four stories, nose-first, to the ground.
Back in August, Russian daredevil Evgeny Chebotarev, 32, drove off a ramp on a four-story building attempting to hop from rooftop to rooftop, only for his Soviet-era vehicle to slam into the other building.
The car plummeted 50 feet, with Chebotarev laughing off the failed stunt despite suffering injuries to his legs and feet.
