Ryoyu Kobayashi tastes World Cup success as Stefan Kraft equals record for most World Cup podiums

Ryoyu Kobayashi followed up his Four Hills success with a first ski jumping World Cup win of the season as Stefan Kraft equalled the all-time record for World Cup podiums.

Kobayashi came out on top in the Four Hills despite not winning any of the four events, but he made amends in Wisla.

Sat fifth after the first round, he overhauled Kraft in the second with a monster 139.5-metre leap, the longest by any competitor over either round.

That was good for 144.1 points and the victory by 5.1 points over Kraft, who had led at the halfway stage.

But while there was some disappointment for the 30-year-old at not completing the win, he did secure a 108th podium, to move level with Finnish great Janne Ahonen for the most in World Cup history.

Andreas Wellinger, of Germany, completed the podium with the same trio leading the overall World Cup standings.

Kraft is comfortably clear in first, on 989 points, 242 clear of Wellinger, with Kobayashi a further 66 points back.
