S Club 7 singer Paul Cattermole dead at 46: ‘Unexpected’

S Club 7 star Paul Cattermole has died at the age of 46.

The English music group announced his passing in a statement on Twitter.

“We are truly devastated by the passing of our brother Paul. There are no words to describe the deep sadness and loss we all feel. We were so lucky to have had him in our lives and are thankful for the amazing memories we have,” they wrote.

“He will be so deeply missed by each and every one of us. We ask that you respect the privacy of his family and of the band at this time.”

Cattermole was found April 6 at his home and was pronounced dead later that afternoon.

The cause of his “unexpected” death is currently unknown, but a statement attributed to Cattermole’s family and the band published by the BBC reads that “Dorset Police has confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances.”

Just one day before his passing, he was spotted cheerfully dancing in the woods and throwing rocks he picked up, the Daily Mail reported.

His death comes just months after the S Club 7 announced their reunion tour to celebrate the group’s 25th anniversary.

S Club 7 is a pop group from London created by former Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller in 1998, consisting of members Cattermole, Jon Lee, Tina Barrett, Bradley McIntosh, Jo O’Meara, Hannah Spearritt and Rachel Stevens.

Cattermole was just 21 years old when he reached stardom in the group. He announced he was leaving the group in 2002 citing “creative differences.”

They had four #1 singles in the UK — “Bring It All Back,” “Never Had a Dream Come True,” “Don’t Stop Movin’” and “Have You Ever” — and their song “Never Had a Dream Come True” made it to the top 10 in the US.
