James Cahill booked his spot in the last 64 of the Scottish Open with a 4-3 qualifying win over Stan Moody in Leicester.
Cahill moved 3-0 clear with breaks of 72 and 69 at the city’s Morningside Arena only for world junior champion Moody to restore parity at 3-3 boosted by a 54 break in the fourth frame.
He was joined in advancing from the round of 128 by former German Masters champion Martin Gould, who completed a 4-2 win over 12-time women’s world champion and Eurosport analyst Reanne Evans.
Evans rallied from losing the first three frames to close to 3-2 behind, but Gould added a closing 79 to go with an 85 in the third frame in finalising his trip to the finals venue.
