Selena Gomez, Francia Raisa didn’t speak for 6 years pre-reconcile
Despite taking former best friends Selena Gomez and Francia Raisa six years to reconnect, the two have finally reached common ground.
The “Secret Life of The American Teenager” alum, 35, opened up about reconnecting with the former Disney Channel star, 31, earlier this year.
“It’s still crazy to me that people were invested in our friendship,” Raisa told USA Today in a recent interview.
“I don’t know why the timing happened the way it did, but I remember being in St. Tropez in June and I kept talking about her,” she explained.
“We hadn’t spoken much in six years. Especially [in] the last year, we didn’t speak at all,” the “How I Met Your Father” actress revealed. “I don’t know why the universe decided this timing … then she reached out and said, ‘Let’s talk.’”
Gomez had sent Raisa a birthday message in July and they reunited over dinner.
For Raisa’s birthday, Gomez sweetly penned on social media: “Happiest of birthdays to this special human beings. No matter where life takes us, I love you.❤️.”
Raisa noted that they had “no beef, just salsa.”
“We’ve never really had beef with each other,” she told the outlet. “Nothing happened, and if you ask either of us, we don’t know what happened but we needed that time apart.”
She continued: “Then when you come back together, you’re better people. She and I are still getting to know each other again.”
Raisa famously gave Gomez a kidney in 2017 when the singer underwent a transplant for her lupus diagnosis.
Since then, rumors of a feud between the “Only Murders in the Building” actress and Raisa have surfaced, with Gomez even referring to Taylor Swift as her “only friend in the industry” during a November 2022 “Rolling Stone” interview.
Gomez went on to apologize for not mentioning “every person” she knows in the article.
Raisa, however, claimed in October that their issues didn’t stem from the medical procedure.
“Sometimes, I feel people need to spend time apart in order to grow,” Raisa told Extra TV at the time, adding it can be “rocky and tricky” to navigate friendship. “We had to almost go on our own journey and grow.”
She concluded: “We had to almost go on our own journey and grow.”
