Shakira fled video shoot via crane amid rat scare, flooding

¡Ay, caramba!

Latin icon Shakira revealed Wednesday that an up close and personal encounter with a rat while filming the music video for her new song “Copa Vacía” prompted a domino effect of disastrous events.

In a video that was posted to her Instagram account, the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer, 46, is seen lying in a pile of trash while dressed as a mermaid with pink hair.

The camera then cuts to the furry fiend as it scampers over to the singer who lets out an ear-piercing scream and bolts straight up leaving her hair extensions behind.

Confined to the cumbersome mermaid costume, the Columbian-born singer struggles to get away from the rodent and is resigned to watching as it continues to explore the remnants of the pink wig that she left behind.

“Cosas que le pasan hasta a las sirenas,” captions the video translating to: “Things that happen even to mermaids.”

The single, which debuted in June, tells the story of a mermaid who is removed from her ocean home and placed in a tank to display and features fellow Columbian singer Manuel Turizo.

Taking to her Instagram, Shakira told her followers that by portraying the siren of the sea, she made the fantasy real and tangible.

Shakira said in a second Instagram broadcast that her mermaid “sacrifices a lot for love, ending up in the trash amongst rats. Thankfully she finds herself in her natural habitat.”

According to the pop star, she struggled to get out of the tank which forced production staff to rescue her.

“The fish tank broke, the set began to flood, and they had to take me out of there,” Shakira told Hola! “I couldn’t go out because I had a mermaid tail, and I couldn’t climb out.”

According to the songstress, she was ultimately removed from the wreckage by crane.

“Every man for himself,” said Shakira to the outlet. “Good thing it was just an anecdote, and I’m here to tell it.”

The singer also added that Turizo, 23, warned her the tank would break.

“He had told me that the fish tank would break,” said the Grammy Award winner. “I thought it was impossible, believing we had impeccable safety standards. But, to my surprise, his prediction came true.”

The Post reached out to Shakira for comment.

Several of Shakira’s fans commented on the video.

“Pique trying come back,” joked one fan referring to the singer’s ex-husband who divorced her in 2022.

“He just wanted to play and meet you,” laughed a second user.

“When the mother-in-law approached you,” snarked a third person.
