Qatari confident over United deal

The Qatari bid for Manchester United believes it will win the bidding process, with Jim Ratcliffe trailing the planned offer of £4.5bn plus the removal of the debt held by the club.

“The Qatari-backed bid is set to lodge an new offer for United of £4.5billion, which will eclipse the £4bn proposal put forward by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the other major contender.

“United owners the Glazers want £6bn for the club they bought for £790m back in 2005 in a highly-leveraged deal, which has seen more than £1bn paid out in interest and dividends.

“The Glazers currently hold a 69 per cent stake of United, with the bid from Sheikh Jassim promising a complete buyout and clearance of the current £535.7m debt, in contrast to the proposal headed up by Ratcliffe.”

Casemiro wanted by Tuchel at Bayern

Thomas Tuchel has been linked with a number of Premier League players since his arrival at Bayern Munich but there’s a surprise name in the mix for the summer: Manchester United midfielder Casemiro.

“However, his value to the Red Devils appears not to have discouraged Tuchel at Bayern Munich, as the German is reportedly viewing the Brazilian international as a top target ahead of his summer rebuild in Bavaria.

“Bayern are believed to be in the market for a new defensive midfielder, and Tuchel reportedly plans to bolster his squad with reinforcements from the Premier League.”

Tottenham hit Nagelsmann block

The Telegraph believes that Bayern Munich want compensation for letting Julian Nagelsmann take over at Tottenham.

The German is on gardening leave at Bayern after being replaced by Thomas Tuchel, and so his current employer would be entitled to compensation to let him go.

“However the Premier League club have hit a significant stumbling block in bringing in Nagelsmann as he is proving to be a very expensive option.

“It is understood that there was no termination clause in Nagelsmann’s contract at Bayern Munich, who are continuing to pay his €12 million (£10.6 million) annual salary despite sacking him in March.

“Nagelsmann has more than three years left on the five-year deal he signed in joining Bayern from RB Leipzig in 2021 and is effectively on gardening leave.

“Bayern are due compensation if the 36-year-old joins another club during this season. And Naglesmann himself would expect compensation from Bayern if they terminate his contract before it is due to expire.

“So far this is proving to be too expensive for Spurs.”

PSG plan striking overhaul

While Paris Saint-Germain anticipate keeping hold of Kylian Mbappe despite only being contracted until 2025, both Lionel Messi and Neymar could be on their way, with the Brazilian in an awkward spot.

“The French club also want to grow a greater sense of identity and a connection between team and fans. A more sustainable financial approach, coupled with a greater French presence in the squad, could help.

“PSG would like Messi to stay another year, but not at any price and, as things stand, both sides are very far apart. For his part, the player is open to returning to Barcelona, should that be a viable option.

“Meanwhile, the club consider that Neymar’s Parisian chapter has come to an end and they are keen to shift him as they do not see him as part of the club’s future. However, with a lucrative contract running until 2027, that will not be an easy operation.”
