‘Shocked’ Sarah Ferguson details ‘distressing’ aggressive skin cancer diagnosis

Sarah Ferguson has revealed that she’s “in good spirits” despite initially being “shocked” to hear of her aggressive skin cancer diagnosis.

The Duchess of York said she’s “grateful for the many messages of love and support” after announcing that she had been diagnosed with malignant melanoma less than a year after her breast cancer diagnosis.

The mother of Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie took to Instagram Monday morning to share an update on her health, revealing that she is “taking time” for herself.

“I have been taking some time to myself as I have been diagnosed with malignant melanoma, a form of skin cancer, my second cancer diagnosis within a year after I was diagnosed with breast cancer this summer and underwent a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery,” the 64-year-old wrote.

“It was thanks to the great vigilance of my dermatologist that the melanoma was detected when it was.”

“Naturally another cancer diagnosis has been a shock but I’m in good spirits and grateful for the many messages of love and support,” Fergie added.

The ex-wife of scandal-scarred Prince Andrew stressed the importance of checking for new moles, and urged fans to “be diligent.”

“I believe my experience underlines the importance of checking the size, shape, color, and texture and emergence of new moles that can be a sign of melanoma and urge anyone who is reading this to be diligent,” she went on.

“I am resting with family at home now, feeling blessed to have their love and support.”

Doctors are now working to establish whether it was caught early. The Duchess’ spokesperson told The Post on Sunday that the diagnosis was “distressing” but Fergie is in “high spirits.”

Ferguson had a mastectomy in the summer of 2023 after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

She claimed in an August episode of the “Tea Talks with the Duchess and Sarah” podcast that it took “a body part to be cut off” to stop “self-hatred and stop self-doubt” amid years of Princess Diana comparisons.

Fergie’s skin cancer news comes hot on the heels of two other royal health announcements.

King Charles and Kate Middleton are currently dealing with their own respective health woes as Middleton underwent a “planned abdominal surgery” last week.

The Princess of Wales, 42, will be staying at The London Clinic for up to two weeks as she recovers, and will not return to royal duties until after Easter.

For his part, Charles, 75, will undergo a “corrective procedure” for an enlarged prostate this week.

Estranged royal family members Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly offered “get well soon” wishes to the ailing pair.

It’s been reported that the Duke of Sussex, 39, found out about his father’s medical procedure through a news alert, rather than a private message.
