Shoot Out

Evans to face Wilson, Poomjaeng drawn with Thepchaiya in Shoot Out second round

Former European Masters champion Robertson in action here. Asjad runs in an early contribution of nine before running for cover to baulk. Jimmy with a delightful long red to open his account for the day.

Doherty 0-1 Dale (0-76)

This is a supreme frame from Dominic. Another 34 added to the 42 and Ken throws his towel onto the table. A warm embrace. No dancing for Doherty today as Dale docks in the last 32. That is how you play a frame of Shoot Out snooker.

Doherty 0-0 Dale (0-43)

Perfect start from Dom to the frame. Cracks away a long red and Dale is off and running. Ken forced to sit and suffer having done nothing wrong. Stunning screw shot on yellow to drag the white back to reds. But red doesn’t bring colour with it. A fine 42 before he runs safe. Dale then with another red into green bag and he is looking very good to progress.

Doherty 0-0 Dominic Dale (0-0)

Might as well park this here before this one.

Perry 1-0 Jones (30-16)

A last-gasp chance for Jamie, but nothing doing from an attempt at long red and this is going to be a victory for Joe in a match low on quality, but high on speculative shots.

Perry 0-0 Jones (29-16)

Both men throwing in a few errors at the wrong time. Perry trying to hold his lead after Jones throws his cue at a couple of shots. The Gentleman inching his way to the last 32 here.

Perry 0-0 Jones (15-15)

A tense, tactical battle for supremacy…five minutes left of the frame.

Perry 0-0 Jones (15-15)

A mistake by Jones is pounced upon by the Welsh Open champion from break-off shot, but Perry knocks in 15 before overcutting a red. Jones with a fluke straight off the bat. This match well in balance heading for the Shot Clock reducer hitting 10 seconds per shot at the halfway stage.

Pinches 0-1 Cao (22-42)

Chance for Pinches, but he missed a pinch. Blue didn’t drop and Cao put the finishing touches to the victory. He is through to last 64. Next up: Joe Perry v Jamie Jones.

Pinches 0-0 Cao (22-31)

That green to middle pocket was brilliant from Barry and he has every chance to move clear, but he misses blue to right middle. Relief for Cao. Will Bazza get another chance?

Pinches 0-0 Cao (12-24)

Cries of ‘C’mon Bazza’ from the animated crowd. But no colour to follow and Cao adds a red before knocking black safe. Pinches slots red and green. Two super pots and this is a chance to eke out victory for the Norwich man.

Pinches 0-0 Cao Yupeng (0-23)

A fine long red by Cao to get his party started on Friday. The former Scottish Open finalist looking to do some damage at this visit, but can’t open pack of reds and just the safety shot to follow.

Grace 1-0 Hugill (50-46)

Hugill utterly focussed on his third opening of the frame. Lovely double on red as he moves ahead. Coming down to the battle on final red and Grace flukes the final red. Scenes at the Shoot Out as he adds black to move ahead. Down to the colours, but time has run out and the game is up for Hugill. That fluke helped Grace seal the victory.

Grace 0-0 Hugill (42-9)

Break of 42 from Grace in this all-Yorkshire battle, but at least Hugill has the chance to atone for the missed red. Rams in a delightful red to green bag and that is a brilliant shot under pressure. But no position on reds from blue.

Grace 0-0 Hugill (7-3)

Grace leaves a red to right centre and Hugill is first to the punch. Plenty of noise from the crowd. A fairly decent chance for Hugill before he jaws a red. That is a bad miss. How amazing is Grace going to be in response?

Murphy 0-1 Davis (7-89)

And that will be that. A run of 66 from Mark Davis and Murphy offers him warm congratulations. Davis following up win over Mark Selby with victory against Murphy.

Murphy 0-0 Davis (0-81)

Shaun not doing much wrong. Couple of shots went wrong with a red left over top bag setting tone and Davis in supreme break-building form. Mark through to the final day.

Murphy 0-0 Davis (0-60)

Looks like curtains for Murphy here as Davis is back at the table looking to finalise his spot in the last 32. Murphy forced to sit and watch the end of his Shoot Out dream here.

Murphy 0-0 Davis (0-23)

Davis with the first pot of the day. 15 seconds for the first five minutes, 10 seconds per shot for the second five minutes. Mark Davis is making the early running here. Be interesting to see how much he makes from this. Will Murphy get another chance? And the answer is yes. 23 from the Hastings man. Decent start.

Murphy 0-0 Davis (0-0)

Davis wins the lag and puts Murphy into bat with some of the packed crowd already well jagged at 1pm on Friday afternoon. Some have gone big early doors which makes for an interesting afternoon.

Shoot Out rules

The Shoot Out is different from traditional snooker. Here are the rules, regulations and history of the chaotic 10-minute one-frame event. “Its complete carnage,” says Shaun Murphy. “You have to take your chances, pray to whichever god you believe in and hope you come out the right side of it.”

Evans stuns Bingham to make Shoot Out history

Reanne Evans stunned Stuart Bingham to become the first woman to win a televised ranking event snooker match at the Snooker Shoot Out.

Evans has played at the last four Shoot Out events but failed to produce her best snooker and had some bad luck at times.

She will play Gary Wilson in the second round today in Leicester.

“That’s the first time I’ve actually enjoyed it,” Evans told Eurosport. “I know I won, but that’s the first time I felt a little more relaxed.

“I think I wasn’t expecting that much and that did the deal. I’m pleased because I’m low on confidence so any win [I have], I’m happy.

“It’s just [about] touch and feel, especially in this format you have to get to the table quick and to be fair the table was really nice, the nicest table I played on all season.”
