Soap star David Gail, ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ actor, dead at 58
David Gail, the soap opera star known for his role in the “General Hospital” spinoff “Port Charles” as well as “Beverly Hills, 90210,” has died. He was 58.
Gail’s sister, Katie Colmenares, confirmed his death in an Instagram post on Saturday, writing, “There’s barely been even a day in my life when you were not with me by my side.”
She continued, “Always my wingman always my best friend ready to face anything and anyone w me the bears will never be the same but I will hold you so tight every day in my heart you gorgeous loving amazing fierce human being missing you every second of every day forever there will never be another.”
His cause of death has not been publicly identified.
A rep for Gail could not be immediately reached by The Post. We have contacted reps for ABC for comment.
Peter Ferriero, who hosts a “Beverly Hills, 90210” rewatch podcast with the show’s producers Charles Rosin and Larry Mollin, also paid tribute to Gail in a recent episode, causing fans to search for the news online.
“For those that have contacted me ‘Why is this not showing up on Google?’ Please stop,” Ferriero wrote in an Instagram Story on Saturday. “The family will report it at the appropriate time to them. I am sharing what I’ve been told to make sure his fans know what has happened. Thank you.”
Gail portrayed Dr. Joe Scanlon in “Port Charles” and Stuart Carson — Brenda Walsh’s (Shannen Doherty) one-time lived fiancé — on “Beverly Hills, 90210.”
During an April 2021 appearance on Ferriero’s podcast, Gail said about working on “90210,” “I have to say thank you to you guys for what you wrote, what you produced [and] all the ideas. That was something I’m really grateful for.”
The Tampa, Fla., native started his acting career in appearances in shows like “Growing Pains,” “Doogie Howser, M.D.,” “Murder, She Wrote” and “Matlock.”
He also appeared on other series including “Robin’s Hoods,” “Savannah,” “The Round Table,” and “JAG.”
His last acting credit came in 2019 when he voiced Sam in the video game “Blacksad: Under the Skin.”
