The business of domestic solar energy is booming, with the blue rectangular panels becoming an increasingly common sight on roofs and land across the UK.

Driven by the climate crisis and rising energy costs, many people are opting for solar. Last year, more than 183,000 panels were installed across the country, exceeding the total for 2022 by one-third, according to MCS, a renewable energy certification scheme.

A household with a 3.5 kilowatt-peak solar system can slash its energy bills by £155 and £400 a year, according to the Energy Saving Trust, an energy consultancy, and Money Saving Expert.

However solar panels are a significant investment, costing on average £7,000 to fit.

We would like to hear about your experience with solar panels. Have you installed them and enjoyed savings on your energy bill? Have you managed to generate income from feeding excess energy to the grid? Or have you found your costs spiralling due to technical faults or bad weather? Have you been the victim of a solar scam? Please contact martha.muir@ft.com in confidence.
