Sopranos’ Drea de Matteo slams ‘nasty’ OnlyFans reactions

Drea de Matteo is slamming those who have made “nasty” comments about her baring it all.   

In August, de Matteo, 51, who is best known for playing Adriana La Cerva in “The Sopranos,” announced that she had joined OnlyFans. 

“I know some people have said some nasty things about me having joined OnlyFans. But, you know, the way we see it in this house is mommy’s a warrior, not accepting defeat,” de Matteo told Fox News Digital on Thursday. 

“I figured, ‘OK, so everybody’s in their underwear and being sexy on Instagram and I don’t do that, but I can do that and get paid for it.’ … I don’t know why I didn’t think of this sooner.”

De Matteo’s OnlyFans page, available for a monthly $15, says “THE SOPRANOS” beneath a close-up of the actress’ cleavage in a star-spangled bikini top.

Her profile photo shows the Emmy-winning actress nude in thigh-high heeled boots, smoking a cigarette by a bed. 

The lifelong New Yorker, who had her East Village home burn to the ground in 2015 in a freak explosion, shares son Waylon, 12, and daughter Alabama, 15, with country musician Shooter Jennings, 44. She said that she felt motivated to do this career pivot to OnlyFans in order to support her kids amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. 

“Things have changed in the last three years…Had I known that I could work out of my closet my whole life, I never would have [believed]. … I know that might sound crazy and might sound somewhat lazy, but I am a very big supporter of stay-at-home moms and women who really love to raise their children. I balanced it all, and I’ve done it all.”

“But I’m 51,” she continued. “I didn’t know this was going to have to be a change of life, you know, all of a sudden that during a time I’m supposed to be relaxing a little bit, that I would have to switch careers and figure new things out because my own industry thinks I’m, you know, a savage.”

De Matteo was referring to the fact that she took a controversial stance against vaccine mandates, which she alleges lost her work.  

“I guess you could say I was a bad girl because I did not follow the rules a couple of years ago. So, I don’t want to be at the mercy of mandates or strike or anything like that ever again. I used to have a lot of money. And then, all of a sudden, I went from being allowed to work to never being allowed to work again,” she told the outlet. “I was never the kind of actor that took jobs just to stay in the business. I literally took jobs to feed my family.”

De Matteo first rose to fame in 1999, playing Adriana, the girlfriend of Tony Soprano’s (James Gandolfini) protege, Christopher Moltisanti (Michael Imperioli). She earned an Emmy for the role in 2004, and later went on to play Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam’s) troubled drug-addicted ex-wife in “Sons of Anarchy” in 2007. She appeared on and off that show through its seven seasons, returning for the final season in 2014. She also appeared on “Desperate Housewives,” and played Joey Tribbiani’s (Matt Le Blanc) sister in the short-lived “Friends” spinoff, “Joey.” 

She said her family is supportive of her career pivot to posting raunchy photos, and that her daughter will even help her edit them. 

“My kids were the ones that were like, ‘Do it.’ …I know that my daughter read [an article] and read some of the hater comments. I sat down, and I go, ‘You know, mommy is not the things that they’re trying to say.’ She’s like, ‘We don’t even have to have this conversation.’”

De Matteo said that she’s not bothered by people who criticize her career shift. 

“I just don’t care. I don’t. I’d rather save my family than save face,” she said. 

“So, when people make nasty comments about why I would have done that, my response is, ‘Damn straight, I hope you’re never in the f—ing position I’m in. I take care of an entire family and a lot of other people who depend on me.’”
