The spy action comedy “Argylle” raked in $6.5 million dollars on its opening night Friday, according to IMDB’s Box Office Mojo.
The Post called the flick, which stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell and Bryan Cranston, “yet another obnoxious spy spoof movie.”
It cost a reported $200 million to make, and is slated to have a weekend opening of $16.9 million, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“The Chosen: S4 Episodes 1-3” came in second, bringing home just over $1.75 million.
The popular faith-filled historical television series, based on the life of Jesus, released a trio of episodes in theaters prior to their release on TV. The series will continue to debut new episodes on the big screen this month, according to USA Today.
“This season we’ve got significant biblical events happening like the death of John the Baptist and the raising of Lazarus from the dead,” the series’ creator, Dallas Jenkins, told the outlet.
“These moments are better watching with a crowd and on the big screen.”
“The Beekeeper,” which ranked second last week, buzzed its way down to third, earning just over $1.3 million.
The rom-com “Anyone But You” moved down a notch to fourth place, with a $1.05 million take.
Things are souring a bit for “Wonka,” which fell down a spot to fifth, with sales of $1.03 million.
