Taylor Swift thanks fans during final Australia ‘Eras’ Tour concert
She’ll love them forever and always.
Taylor Swift thanked her record number of fans in Australia on Sunday after she played three “Eras” Tour shows to a whopping 288,000 people.
“96,000 people the first night, 96,000 people the second night, 96,000 people tonight. All of that, those are all the biggest shows I’ve ever played on a tour and you did it three times,” Swift, 34, told the screaming crowd at Melbourne Cricket Ground in a clip posted to X (formerly Twitter).
“The math is that it’s 288,000 people in three nights,” she continued. “Melbourne, you are the love of my life. I cannot believe you, what have you done.”
“It’s just incredibly nice to do for someone. Make them feel welcome like that,” Swift continued.
“Another thing that makes me feel very lucky, honestly, [is] standing here knowing I have the most incredible opening act on this tour,” the “Bad Blood” songstress continued referring to her bestie Sabrina Carpenter, who has opened for Swift several times.
The singer’s comment comes mere days after a fan posted a clip of Swift on the social media site telling the Friday night’s attendees that she was “starstruck” by the achievement and that the performance was “the biggest show that we have done on this tour or any tour I have ever done.”
“That’s the version you get of me tonight, the version that’s completely starstruck by the fact that so many of you wanted to hang out with us on a Friday night in Melbourne,” the 14-time Grammy winner said.
Swift thanked her fans Down Under again in a heartfelt Instagram post.
“Melbourne, what do I even say to you after over 288,000 of you came and danced with us in the last 3 nights ??! That was unforgettable,” the “You Belong With Me” singer wrote. “You were on another LEVEL. Thank you for the memories. I’ll revisit the ones from this weekend often.”
Sadly, the “Blank Space” singer’s time in the country was not all happy after a sixteen-year-old fan, who was on her way to see the pop diva, was killed in a horrific crash that left her sibling fighting for her life.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Mieka Pokarier, 16, her mother, and her sibling were jamming out to Swift’s tunes while they completed the 17-hour journey when their car collided with a semi-truck in Dubbo, about 500 miles outside of their destination.
Pokarier was pronounced dead at the scene while her sister Freya Pokarier, 10, was airlifted to Westmead Hospital where, according to the outlet, she was placed in a medically induced coma and suffering from brain injuries, broken leg and damaged pelvis.
The girl’s mother sustained minor injuries and was transferred to a medical facility in Dubbo where she is in stable condition.
“It should have been a dream road trip,” Pokarier’s godmother Karleigh Fox told the Daily Telegraph. “They had been talking about this since before they got the tickets. They spent eight hours refreshing their screens hoping to score tickets and were over the moon to land tickets at both Melbourne and Sydney venues.”
It is currently unknown if Swift was made aware of the tragic accident
