Texas bus driver nearly plows into 3 kids crossing street

A Texas school bus driver has been suspended after nearly plowing into three children who were crossing the street moments after they got dropped off on Wednesday.

The close call was caught on camera and was witnessed by horrified parents — including a mother who can be heard yelling for her young daughter to get out of the way as the bus rolled towards her and a boy, according to footage obtained by Fox 4.

“What the heck!” the frustrated mom yells in the clip.

A third child, who was about to step in front of the bus, walked backward to dodge the threat.

“I wasn’t even 20 yards away from him, and I would not have been able to help him,” Matt McCormick, who was picking up his son after school, told the local outlet.

“Didn’t even give time for anybody to be across the street. Nothing. Just bye.”

McCormick’s son, 6, is dressed in green in the video.

“Once I knew he was okay, I was more really, really upset than anything else that someone could let that happen,” he added.

The boy’s father filed a complaint with the Denton Independent School District, north of Dallas, that same day and attached the video.

He claims the district responded with an email with basic information on the incident but failed to provide any explanation on why the driver nearly ran over his child.

“Thankfully, nothing happened to him, nothing happened to the other children, everybody’s completely fine other than emotional stressors,” the dad stated, adding that he is not satisfied with how the Denton Independent School District handled the incident.

The driver has since been suspended, according to the TV station, while the district continues to investigate.

“They don’t know what they’re doing when it comes to hiring drivers,” McCormick said.
