Texas school shooter Salvador Ramos purchased guns legally

The Robb Elementary School shooter legally purchased the two semi-automatic rifles he used to kill 19 kids and two teachers, Texas State Sen. John Whitmire said.

Salvador Ramos bought the rifles on May 17 and May 20 from a “local federal firearms licensee” shortly after his 18th birthday and on May 18, bought 375 rounds of 5.56 ammunition, Whitmire and Texas State Sen. Roland Gutierrez told the Austin Statesman.

One of the guns was found in Ramos’s truck, which was found crashed outside of the school, and the other rifle was on his person, Whitmire said.

Paperwork from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives shows he likely lived with his grandmother, who Ramos shot before committing the rampage at the school.

The grandmother, who previously worked at the school but left in 2020, is clinging to life and was not killed, Whitmire said.
