Texas toddler attacked by crazed pit bull which then blew hinges off front door

In a terrifying scene straight out of a horror movie, a Texas 2-year-old was savagely attacked by a pit bull — before the beast then blew the front door off its hinges trying to get to the family inside.

The terrifying ordeal unfolded this week as Chante Wright-Haywood left her Austin home to drop her young son CJ off at daycare on her way to work.

Wright-Haywood spotted what she thought was another child from the neighborhood out of the corner of her eye, which turned out to be a pit bull that ambushed her young son in the front yard of their home before she could get to him, WKRG reports.

The vicious attack was captured on their doorbell security camera.

The video captures Wright-Haywood screaming and fighting back, kicking at the crazed mutt before snatching up a hysterically crying CJ as they frantically sped toward the house.

CJ suffered a small bite to his stomach, but their harrowing encounter was just beginning.

The dog gave chase, snapping and jumping at them as Wright-Haywood shouted for her daughter inside the house to open the door.

The unknown dog pounced on the 2-year-old, forcing the boy and his mother to flee for their lives back inside.

“You can hear like that snapping, trying to get to him [my son],” she said. “My daughter was able to open the door, and I just kind of pushed him in…the dog was trying to get into the house,” she told WKRG.

Once inside, the predacious dog clawed at the front door from the outside as Wright-Haywood and her two children desperately braced the door with their bodies.

After they managed to get inside the house, the dog continued its relentless pursuit, scratching on the door and even breaking it off its hinges.

“The dog actually broke the door hinges off of the (door) frame..,” she said.

“Me and the kids were putting all our body weight on the door to hold the door close to keep the dog out while I’m calling police and EMS to come.”

Wright-Haywood said the nightmarish episode finally ended when Animal Control showed up to capture the dog.

The mother of six said unleashed dogs prowling the streets has been a recurring issue in their neighborhood.

The identity of the dog’s owner was not immediately known.
