‘Thank you!’ – Novak Djokovic has Australian Open crowd laughing with response to heckler in Enzo Couacaud win

There was a comical moment in Novak Djokovic’s second round win against Enzo Couacaud at the Australian Open when the Serbian thanked a fan for telling a heckler to “shut up”.

It came as Djokovic readied a serve in the third set as he looked to close out a game to take a 3-0 lead, to which a spectator shouted something unclear towards the top seed.

This prompted another member of the crowd to tell the heckler to be quiet – in not-so-polite terms – to which Djokovic responded “thank you”.

His response received a roar of laughter from the crowd as Djokovic chuckled to himself before he sarcastically mouthed “finally”.

There was more crowd trouble for Djokovic in the fourth set when he argued with the Umpire to throw out a rowdy “drunk” fan.

But Djokovic managed to go on to win the match 6-1 6-7(5) 6-2 6-0 as he eased into the third round.

There was a worrying moment when the 35-year-old required a medical timeout for an ongoing hamstring injury in the second set and left the court for treatment.

However, with his opponent also enduring his share of injuries during the match, the 21-time Grand Slam winner came through unscathed.

Djokovic will face Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov in the third round.
