The little known movie fact most viewers missed

It’s Christmas time, which means those festive movies are likely on repeat in many homes around the globe.

“The Grinch” is a long-time favorite and no matter how many times people have watched it, there’s a fact that many have missed.

And let me tell you this: once you see it, you’ll feel like a ning nong because you’ll realize how obvious it is.

The Grinch moment we all missed

As snowflakes drop in the opening credits of the 2000 Ron Howard flick, the narrator delivers his opening line: “Inside a snowflake, like the one on your sleeve. There happens a story you must see to believe.”

That’s it. That’s the fact. The fictional town of Whoville is located INSIDE a snowflake!

I told you it was obvious and if you’re someone who already knew this, well done you.

You obviously take more notice of opening credits in films than the rest of us who are likely grabbing all the snacks during those opening scenes.

TikToker @emlyonz began the discussion about the little-known fact when she posted a video of her trying to convince her dad that it was true.

“Rewinding The Grinch for the 10389393th time to prove to my dad that they live in a snowflake,” she captioned her footage.

How did people not know this already?

The clip has been shared across various social media platforms and the comments are following the same trend – of people sharing how they’re gobsmacked that they missed the tiny but very important detail.

“Htf did I ever miss that???” one person commented.

The opening credits take viewers inside the snowflake.

“Wow today years old 😂,” another wrote.

“I swear I didn’t know they lived in a snowflake😭,” came another fan.

And another mild-blown viewer added: “I’m literally watching The Grinch right now… this was the first time that I’ve noticed that they live in a snowflake… actually wild that this video just showed up lol”

Grim reality for residents of Whoville

As people continue to get their heads around it, the fact has raised other questions about the film. Specifically, what does this mean for the residents of Whoville when the seasons change and the snowflake… well, MELTS?

“Wait… so is their whole civilisation going to perish in the spring? I don’t like to think about this 😭” one fan pointed out. And they weren’t the only ones thinking about the grim reality either.

“So they all die?” another questioned.

Meanwhile, others remained hopeful for the lovely folk at Whoville.

“Maybe it’s a snowflake in Antarctica so it will never melt 😂,” an optimistic fan shared.

And another added: “Maybe, because it’s all so small, the melting of the snowflake has no effect. Maybe they live on that molecule and as it melts, that’s just their summer, until one day it all freezes back up and come down as a snowflake again. I’ve always loved the intro to that movie!”

Whatever it means, we know something for sure: we’re not going to be making popcorn during opening credits of a movie ever again in case we miss other obvious film facts that make us feel silly.
