The Mighty Morphin Power Ranger that embodies your zodiac sign
It’s Morphin time my dudes.
Premiering on Netflix on April 19, “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always” follows the beloved band of masked, spandex-ed heroes as they return to fight back against the forces of evil and satisfy our hunger for 90’s nostalgia.
Low on budget and high on hype, the story of the Power Rangers began when the head dressed sorceress and absolute fashion icon Rita Repulsa, escaped from the confines of her space dumpster prison (great band name) and attacked Earth.
Repulsa’s tactics prompted disembodied tube dwelling galactic wizard Zordon to arm a team of attitude heavy teenagers from Angel Grove with a special powers to defend earth and her denizens.
Since its inception in 1993, the Power Rangers crew has suffered real life losses with the deaths of Thuy Trang, who played Yellow Ranger and Jason David Frank, better known as Green Ranger Tommy Oliver.
Netflix promises, “30 years after the wise and powerful Zordon formed the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the team comes face-to-face with a familiar threat from the past. In the midst of a global crisis, they are called on once again to be the heroes the world needs.”
Gets my blood pumping just thinking about it.
In honor of the film’s release we’re providing a run down of the Power Rangers cast as zodiac signs. Read on and remember, “Once a ranger, always a ranger.”
Zack Taylor
Energetic innovators that they are, it tracks that an Aries like Zack Taylor would marry dancing and martial arts into a hybrid expression and give it a kitsch heavy name like Hip Hop kido. Aries energy alternates between hero and jester and Zack with his bad jokes and pure heart proves himself equally capable of playing both roles. Oxygenated by challenge and buoyed by unfailing self-confidence Zack likes sports and unattainable girls.
Rocky DeSantos
A fun loving, snack centric, prioritizer of self-care Rocky DeSantos is the resident Taurus of the Rangers. Bulls would prefer not to compete and Rocky has no drive to be the number one in command, satisfied as he is to be and to be partying. Loyal AF and apt to keep it light, he’s a convivial ‘yes’ man and true to his Venusian rulership, the type of dude that stays invited.
Goldar
Ruled by loud mouth Mercury, Geminis are prone to bluster, exaggeration, and questionable catch phrases, recently topping our list of the zodiac signs most likely to get canceled. In kind, Goldar brings all the bravado of a professional wrestler/former president to his role as henchmen, bellowing things like, “No mere human is a match for GOLDAR!” Easily distracted, Geminis are apt to ghost in relationships and apropos of this, Goldar’s skillset includes vanishing into thin air at a moment’s notice.
Aisha Campbell
Cancer represents the archetype of the mother and Aisha Campbell, AKA the Yellow Ranger is undoubtedly the most maternal member of the Rangers. Upon first introduction in the series, she’s rescuing a baby for ch—t’s sake. In addition, Aisha spent a period of internment in the “Dimension of Despair,” a locale familiar to the moody, maudlin, in love with their mope vibe of Cancers.
New York Post readers also love:
Jason Lee Scott
A recovering bully and a jock with a tender heart, Jason, like many Leos, lives to elevate the underdog. We see this drive to help others shine in Jason dedication to teaching Billy martial arts/self defense to boost the Capricorn’s waning confidence. Aw. Gold is the power color of Leo and Jason goes full roar and total gild in later incarnations, when he become the golden ranger. Leos are no strangers to drama or stage names and Austin St. John, nee Jason Lawrence Geiger, who starred as Jason Lee Scott in the OG Rangers, is currently under investigation for his role in a COVID relief scheme.
Tommy Oliver
Full disclosure; I love a ponytailed Virgo and diet grunge babe Tommy Oliver, played by real life Virgo Jason David Frank, is the long hair that started it all. Virgo folk are dedicated to a dangerous degree; ever striving to improve, adapt and succeed by whatever punishing means necessary and Tommy goes hard proving that the self is the greatest adversary a Virgo can face. Self-critical and ever on the lookout for an improvement project, Virgos tend to get enchanted by the wrong types; in Tommy’s case that type takes the form of emotionally disturbed Pisces dumpster dweller Rita Repulsa.
Kimberly Ann Hart
Kimberly Hart is played by real life Libra Amy Jo Johnson and expresses some of the tell tale traits of her sun sign. Popular, charming, attractive, friendship oriented and ever riding the line between wit and wickedness, Kimberly is the cardinal air of her crew. Libra rules the seventh house of partnerships and lest we forget big bad daddy Lord Zedd wanted Kimberly for his queen before he settled for Rita. In true Libra form, Kimberly used the power of impersonation to free herself from the engagement.
Scorpina
The show was never much for subtlety and in deference/homage to their broad strokes I’m giving the honor of Scorpio to namesake villain Scorpina. Scorpios are nothing if not self aware and our girl introduces herself as, “your worst nightmare” while wearing a costume that recalls dominatrix gear. It tracks. Power hungry, looking for that fairytale romance and able to murder people with her side eye, Scorpina is the high and low of fixed water.

Trini Kwan
Sagittarius queen Trini Kwan fears nothing, save for heights, and is motivated to learn, adapt, expand and move towards a higher consciousness. An idealist and an environmentalist, she led the very, very, Sagittarian campaign to “save the forest spirit statue.” Add to this that Trini was anointed the Yellow Ranger, the sunny side up, lemons into lemonade power color of archers everywhere and was portrayed by the late, great, Sagittarius Thuy Trang.
Billy Cranston
Even as children, Capricorn natives often a carry the air of adulthood about them as they are forced by circumstances to grow up fast. Bullied genius Billy Cranston, played by IRL Capricorn David Yost, certainly seems to possess this wise beyond his years gravity. Caps are built to endure and to advance and as the strategic brains behind the Rangers, Billy makes his way slowly but surely to the top of the proverbial mountain. Runner up for Cap king is militaristic, self-serving father figure Zordon who ruled the rangers with an iron fist despite having no body and thus no actual fist to speak of.
Adam Park
Aquarians, through the stories they tell themselves, identify as the perpetual outsider, close enough to observe but never enough to feel totally included; the proverbial black sheep, or in this case Black Power Ranger. As a fixed air sign, water bearers often question their own emotional intuition and fall short in, or fall prey to, the nuance of interpersonal relationships, as Adam demonstrated when he fell for Sabrina, a thinly veiled Scorpina in disguise who led him away and astray.
Rita Repulsa
Suckers for love, Pisces folk are well known for their tendency to stay too long in toxic relationships and apropos of this, our girl Rita survived at least ten thousand years in a dumpster. Pisces represents all that is magical, ephemeral and psychic and baddie Rita is an apex sorceress/brainwasher/energy channeler. Pisces people are allergic to accountability and operate as the escape artists of the zodiac and Rita proves the point by playing the blame game and evading others with her classic duck and teleport move.
