‘The People We Hate At The Wedding’ streaming on Prime Video

To our mind, there’s only one movie at the top of the British Rom-Com Involving Disastrous Weddings Mountain, and that’s “Four Weddings and a Funeral.”

If you can get past the Andie MacDowell of it all (Sorry! The chemistry’s just not there!), it’s one of the most charming, British rom-coms ever made.

Debuting this Friday (Nov. 18th) on Amazon Prime Video, and looking to capture some of that 90’s rom-com magic, is “The People We Hate at the Wedding,” from frequent “The Office” director Claire Scanlon.

“The People We Hate At The Wedding” stars Kristen Bell as Alice, who’s invited to her estranged half-sister’s wedding in jolly old England, alongside her brother Paul (Ben Platt) and their mother, Donna (Allison Janney).

Will the sisters from across the pond find a way to work things out, or is the titular wedding doomed to fail by American intervention? There’s only one way to find out.

Below, we highlight when and where you can watch “The People We Hate At The Wedding,” alongside a few more details about the plot (no spoilers!)

Amazon Prime Video

“The People We Hate At The Wedding” is streaming exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. It’s free with a subscription, or with a 30-day free trial, alongside a slew of blockbusters and award-winning Amazon Original Series, like Harry Styles’ “My Policeman,” “Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,” and “Marvelous Ms. Maisel.”

Oh, and we almost forgot to mention: Thursday Night Football.

When will “The People We Hate At The Wedding” be streaming?

“The People We Hate At The Wedding” will be streaming exclusively on Amazon Prime Video starting this Friday, Nov. 18. That’s just a day after Thursday’s matchup between the Packers and the Titans for Thursday Night Football, if you’re in for two nights of TV-watching in a row.

What’s it about?

Alice (Bell) and Paul (Platt) are the people you hate at the wedding. Sorry, we mean “The People You Hate At The Wedding.” Why, you may ask? Because of a longstanding feud with their gorgeous, wealthy, British half-sister, Eloise (Cynthia Addai-Robinson), the child of their mother (Janney) and a moneyed Frenchman, who left Eloise a sizable trust fund.

To put it bluntly: Alice and Paul aren’t doing so hot, and the prospect of spending a week with Eloise shoving her money and happiness in their faces is anything but appealing. Relationships are tested, and secrets come out in the family’s trip to the UK, which maybe, just maybe, may bring them closer together than ever.

There’s only one way to find out. Stream “The People You Hate At The Wedding” this Friday on Amazon Prime Video.
