‘The View’ Halloween 2023 costumes: Unrecognizable Disney-themed
They’re ready to trick or treat.
The hosts of “The View” all got into the Halloween spirit this year, and for 2023, their costumes were themed to celebrate the 100th year of Disney, which was founded in October 1923.
Co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin all dressed as their favorite Disney characters.
Whoopi Goldberg
Goldberg, 67, wanted to be Barbie, producers said, which originally gave them pause, since that’s not a Disney character.
“We searched through ‘Toy Story’ and found that there was Barbie in Disney, and there was Tour Guide Barbie!” producer Jamie Hammer told People. “So it ended up working out. And Whoopi looked amazing. She was wearing 40 pounds of hair, and carried it effortlessly.”
Sara Haines
Haines, 46, dressed as Carl, the old man from “Up.” The costume — which included prosthetics — took 2 hours and 15 minutes for the makeup and production team to put together, they said.
“Sara, in particular, likes to be transformative. She loves Halloween,” Hammer said. “So we actually pitched Carl from ‘Up’ to Sara, amongst others, and that was the one that she picked. She loves [the] narrative of the film, she loves the character; it’s something that her kids knew.”
Ana Navarro
Navarro, 51, dressed up as both Isabella and her sister, Mirabel Madrigal, from “Encanto.”
Ana has been such a huge supporter of Encanto from the beginning,” Hammer said. “She’s friends with Lin-Manuel Miranda, she’s friends with John Leguizamo — we felt like that’s probably where she was going to go, and we were right.”
Sunny Hostin
Hostin, 55, went all out with hair and makeup to transform into Neytiri – Zoe Saldana’s character from the “Avatar” movies.
“Sunny’s a lot like Sara in that know that we can always do something really fun and creative,” Hammer said. “And it allows hair and makeup to really be creative and do their thing, too.”
Alyssa Farah Griffin
Griffin, 34, dressed as Princess Jasmine from Aladdin.
“Alyssa has said multiple times on the show that Jasmine was the first Arabian princess — and she’s half Lebanese, half Syrian, so to her as a child, it was someone that she identified with,” Hammer explained.
Joy Behar
“The View’s” longest running co-host, 81 — who recently said that Andy Cohen wants her to write a tell-all about Rosie O’Donnell’s stint as her co-host — dressed as the classic villain Cruella de Vil.
Hammer said that it was a “perfect fit” and she “had a lot of fun” with the look.
“The Halloween show is a treasured ‘View’ tradition since the show began and it means a lot to our audience,” executive producer Brian Teta told People. “It’s an incredible amount of work but with everything going on in the world it’s so important to take a minute and have a little fun — not to mention showcase the incredible talent of our View Crew.”
