‘The View’ slammed for ‘endorsing violence’ with Oscars slap child’s costume

“The View” was slammed Monday, during the show’s Halloween-themed episode, for dressing a child as an Academy Award statuette with a blood-red handprint on their cheek to represent the infamous “Oscars slap.”
The segment involved “The View” wardrobe supervisor, Ashley Alderfer Kaufman, introducing each of the costumes based on “hot topics” discussed on the show this year.
The masquerade showcase also included “inflation” — depicted by a child dressed as a car-dealership inflatable and fake money glued to the sides — and “the Mar-a-Lago raid” — with a kid dressed as former President Trump in the act of flushing classified documents down a toilet.
One costume, however, was deemed most inappropriate. “We do not want to endorse violence of any kind, but we couldn’t help but talk about one of the hottest topics of this year,” said Kaufman.
The Post reached out to “The View” for comment.
Twitter users erupted into outrage at the costume.
“Not a fan of that Oscar slap costume,” wrote one user.
“Bad taste on the Oscar slap,” echoed another.
“What was that Chris Rock costume,” fumed one viewer. “I don’t want to endorse violence but here’s a costume endorsing violence. DO BETTER!!”
