The Weeknd defends ‘The Idol’ sex scene — says he’s playing ‘a loser’

The Weeknd has claimed that his “nasty” sex scene with Lily-Rose Depp in the second episode of HBO’s “The Idol” is more pathetic than sensual.

“There’s nothing sexy about it,” the “Blinding Lights” megastar, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, told GQ in an interview published Tuesday.

“However you’re feeling watching that scene, whether it’s discomfort, or you feel gross, or you feel embarrassed for the characters. It’s all those emotions adding up to: This guy is in way over his head, this situation is one where he is not supposed to be here,” he declared.

The scene in question aired Sunday and shows sleazy nightclub owner Tedros (Tesfaye) blindfolding troubled pop star Jocelyn (Depp) and instructing her to perform various sex acts as she’s on a bed.

“F – – kin’ stretch that tiny, little p – – y,” a blank-faced Tesfaye, 33, tells 24-year-old Depp’s character as she pleasures herself and inserts two of her fingers in her mouth.

One fan recorded the scene and put it on Twitter, claiming: “I will never see the weeknd the same after this.”

But Tesfaye argued that the controversial scene adds to his character’s rehearsed and “calculated” vibes to control Jocelyn.

“And he needs to do that, or he has nothing, he’s pathetic,” he explained.

“You look at him, and this is a score — Jocelyn might be the biggest score he’s ever had,” Tesfaye continued. “It’s very obvious. He’s over-indulging, he walks into this house looking around like, ‘Godamn, am I way over my head? This can be the biggest job I’ve ever done.’

“Whatever it is that he’s doing. Even the sex, it’s so gluttonous, Especially in Episode 2. ‘Gluttony’ is the only word I can think of [to describe it]. He can’t believe he’s there. He comes off like such a loser. Those moments are the humanity that you find in a psychopath, the chink in his armor.”

The Post has contacted reps for Tesfaye, Depp and HBO for comment.

Elsewhere in the GQ interview, Tesfaye claimed that he’s “just happy that there’s conversation” around the show, which was allegedly deemed “torture porn” by numerous crew members before it was even released.

Tesfaye and Depp, meanwhile, continue to support what they made.

New episodes of “The Idol” drop at 9 p.m. EST Sundays on HBO and stream on Max.

On Monday, it was reported that the “comically bad” series, which is directed by “Euphoria” creator Sam Levinson, lost more than 100,000 viewers with its second episode, compared to its June 4 debut.

Fans even declared that they “lost respect for The Weeknd,” who also co-created the show.

“I’m sorry I don’t care what you do but doing it on tv especially GRAPHICALLY is weird,” another fan tweeted after the second episode.
