The Weeknd, Lily-Rose Depp get ‘nasty’ in controversial ‘The Idol’: trailer
The first look at The Weeknd’s controversial HBO series “The Idol” — which was previously referred to as “torture porn” — is here.
The “Blinding Lights” history-maker, 33, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, portrays shady nightclub owner Tedros, who becomes obsessed with Jocelyn, an up-and-coming pop star played by “nepo baby” Lily-Rose Depp, 23.
“When was the last truly f – – king nasty, nasty bad-pop girl?” asks Jocelyn’s friend Caleb, portrayed by singer Troye Sivan, 27, as she poses for a sexy photo shoot in the teaser.
Set to Britney Spears’ “Gimme More,” the nearly 2-minute clip shows Tedros and Jocelyn meeting for the first time in a club, where Tedros tells her: “You’ve got the best job in the world. You should be having way more fun.”
“More fun” indeed ensues, including sex-tinged scenes of partying, drinking and consuming cocaine that seemingly combines “Euphoria” and “50 Shades of Grey.”
That may not be an accident, as “Euphoria” creator Sam Levinson — as well as Reza Fahim and The Weeknd — co-created “The Idol,” too.
The overtly sexual teaser continues as Tedros blindfolds Jocelyn and caresses her body as she records vocals, and the pop star’s team freaks out over a selfie Jocelyn supposedly took while “on her f – – king knees.”
“Pop music is like the ultimate Trojan horse,” Tedros seductively enlightens Jocelyn. “You get people to dance — you get people to sing along.”
“I want to be the biggest touring act ever,” Depp’s pop star declares as a montage of Jocelyn dirty dancing with others flashes across the screen.
The steamy series has been slapped by detractors even before its June 4 premiere on the newly rebranded streamer.
Last month, 13 anonymous sources claimed to Rolling Stone that Levinson’s participation in the series resulted in disturbing sexual and physically violent scenes between Depp and The Weeknd.
“It was like any rape fantasy that any toxic man would have in the show — and then the woman comes back for more because it makes her music better,” one anonymous source told the publication.
But in a statement to The Post, Depp called Levinson “the best director I have ever worked with” for “so many reasons.”
Meanwhile, The Weeknd responded to the rock bible’s report with a scene from “The Idol” that coincidently calls Rolling Stone “irrelevant” and “past its prime.”
“@rollingstone did we upset you?” the “Party Monster” singer captioned the clip on social media.
“The Idol” will air Sundays at 9:30 p.m. EST starting June 4 on HBO and also will stream on HBO Max.
