Three police officers shot in DC, suspect barricaded

Three police officers were shot in southeast Washington, D.C. Wednesday morning by a suspect who remains barricaded, police said.

The first call reporting an officer in need of assistance came through at 8:06 a.m., a spokesperson for the DC Metropolitan Police told The Post.

Authorities were executing an arresting warrant at a home when the suspect opened fire, sources told NBC 4.

Shortly before 10 a.m., the subject remained barricaded in the residence and continued to shoot at police, the outlet said.

“This is still a very, very active scene,” the police spokesperson told The Post.

Several roads around the scene were closed and two nearby elementary schools went on lockdown, 7 News reported Joy Wang wrote on X, citing DC Public Schools.

The three wounded officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to area hospitals, the police spokesperson said.

A fourth officer was also wounded, but was not shot, according to NBC 4.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) confirmed it was on the scene assisting authorities.
